Injection Moulding Machine for Irrigation Valves

Irrigation valves, which open and shut flow in mains and sub-mains, are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines, with plain or glass-filled PP bodies and POM internal parts. Body size, side cores for the ports and threads, and shot weight decide the machine. Gate position matters most, so weld lines stay away from pressure-loaded walls.

Valve body moulding needs a machine that can push glass-filled melt through thick sections, hold pressure long enough to pack them, and open far enough for core pulls. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for irrigation valve parts and can recommend a size against your valve range.

Moulding Irrigation Valves?

Share the valve sizes, end connections and body material, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine for each mould.

Machine Requirements for Irrigation Valve Moulding

A valve body carries line pressure and houses a moving ball or plug, so the machine has to support these needs:

  • Bimetallic screw and barrel for glass-filled PP
  • Gate placed so weld lines avoid pressure walls
  • Long holding pressure to pack thick stem bosses
  • Core pull circuits for ports and threaded ends
  • Round, true seat bore for the ball or plug
  • Opening stroke for deep bodies and side cores

Recommended Machine for Irrigation Valves

Valve size sets the machine. Small lateral and sub-main valves often fit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger bodies with glass-filled walls and hydraulic side cores move to the C Series (140-320 T), and the H Series (120-350 T) covers the biggest valve tools as well as multi-cavity moulds for handles or balls.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions that valve makers bring to our engineers most often.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Irrigation Valves?
It depends on valve size. Compact valves suit the E Series, mid-size bodies with several side cores usually need the C Series, and the largest valve moulds run on the H Series.
  • Why Use Glass-Filled PP for Valve Bodies?
Glass fibre adds stiffness and creep resistance, so threads and walls hold under steady line pressure. It also wears the screw, check ring and gates, which is why a bimetallic or wear-resistant barrel is advised.
  • How Are Threads Formed on Irrigation Valve Bodies?
External threads usually form across the parting line or on slides. Internal threads need collapsible cores or an unscrewing mould, which adds mould height and may call for an extra hydraulic circuit on the machine.
  • What Mould Size and Opening Stroke Do Valve Tools Need?
Valve moulds with side cores on several faces are wide and deep. The machine needs tie-bar spacing to fit the mould, enough daylight to clear the body and room for the core pull cylinders.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Irrigation Valve?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the body, ball, stem and handle, the materials, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Irrigation Control Parts Too?
Yes. Irrigation taps, small irrigation cocks, drip line flush valves and pipe saddles use similar materials and mould features, so the same machine range can cover them, subject to mould size.
