Injection Moulding Machine for Poultry Nipple Drinkers

Poultry nipple drinkers, the small valves that release water when a bird pecks the steel pin, are made from PP or ABS on horizontal injection moulding machines in multi-cavity tools. Cavity count and body shot weight set machine size. The steel pin is fitted later or set as an insert, and roundness at its seat decides whether the nipple drips.

Nipple drinker moulding calls for accurate, repeatable shots in small cavities and a clean, flash-free bore where the pin seals. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for poultry nipple drinker bodies and can size one to your mould and daily output.

Machine Requirements for Poultry Nipple Drinker Moulding

Every nipple must seal until pecked and then release water cleanly, which puts these needs on the moulding:

  • Round, burr-free bore at the pin seat
  • No flash at the parting line through the bore
  • Thread or push-fit spigot that seals in the pipe
  • ABS drying to avoid splay and weak threads
  • Insert loading where the pin is moulded in
  • Balanced runner across a multi-cavity body mould

Recommended Machine for Poultry Nipple Drinkers

Nipple drinker bodies are small, and the mould is sized by cavity count rather than part size. Most of these tools fit the E Series (75-180 T). Where a high cavity mould or a combined body and saddle tool lifts projected area and shot weight, the H Series (120-350 T) is the next step.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

The questions poultry equipment makers ask our engineers most often.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Poultry Nipple Drinkers?
A horizontal machine at the smaller end suits most nipple body moulds, so the E Series is the usual choice. High cavity production tools move to the H Series for the added clamping force.
  • Is the Stainless Pin Moulded In or Fitted Later?
Both methods are used. Fitting the pin after moulding keeps the cycle simple. Moulding it in as an insert removes an assembly step but needs insert loading and careful seat design to avoid leaks.
  • Should Nipple Drinker Bodies Be PP or ABS?
PP is light, tough and resists farm cleaning chemicals. ABS gives a harder surface and finer threads but must be dried before moulding. The choice depends on the body design and how it fits the pipe.
  • Does a Nipple Drinker Need a Drinking Water Grade?
The nipple carries drinking water for birds, so buyers often specify virgin food-contact grades and avoid unknown regrind. Grade approval sits with the material supplier and the buyer, not with the machine.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Poultry Nipple Drinker?
Yes. Share the nipple body drawing or sample, the pin arrangement, material, part weight, mould size, cavities and daily output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Poultry Equipment Parts Too?
Yes. Poultry drinkers, poultry feeders, chick feed trays and livestock ear tags can run on the same machine range, subject to each mould fitting the platen and shot.
