Injection Moulding Machine for Baby Chairs

Baby chairs are made on large horizontal injection moulding machines, often two-platen, with the seat shell moulded in PP or HDPE and fitted to a metal frame. Machine size is set by the shell projected area, mould height and the opening stroke a deep seat needs. Warpage control on the wide seat matters most.

For seat shells, selection centres on clamping force for a wide projected area, platen size and daylight for a large mould, and enough shot capacity for one heavy part. Pratishna Engineers supplies two-platen injection moulding machines for baby chair shells and can recommend a configuration for your design.

Machine Requirements for Baby Chair Moulding

Baby chair parts are large, ribbed and often carry screw bosses for the frame and tray. Points that decide the machine:

  • Platen size and tie-bar spacing for a wide seat mould
  • Opening stroke for deep seat backs and side guards
  • Shot capacity for one heavy PP shell per cycle
  • Uniform cooling to limit warpage across the flat seat
  • Rib and boss design that avoids sink on the seat face
  • Rounded edges with no flash where the child sits

Recommended Machine for Baby Chairs

Seat shells for booster seats and smaller high chairs can fall within the PHM Series (160-350 T), and a two-platen layout suits deep moulds that need a long opening stroke. The H Series (120-350 T) covers trays, footrests and smaller shells. Full-size one-piece chairs or larger shells may need higher tonnage, which is discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of baby chairs and booster seats.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Baby Chairs?
For the seat shell, a two-platen machine such as the PHM Series often suits, with the H Series for trays and smaller parts. Final size comes from wall thickness, flow length and mould dimensions.
  • What Clamping Force Does a Baby Chair Mould Need?
Clamping force is worked out from the projected area of shell and runner, the injection pressure and the flow length in PP. A wide seat with thin walls and long flow needs more tonnage than a small booster shell of similar weight.
  • How Do You Stop a Seat Shell From Warping?
Even wall thickness, ribs placed to stiffen the seat and balanced cooling channels in both mould halves help most. Hot runner gating at several points shortens flow length, and enough holding pressure controls shrinkage and sink near bosses.
  • Which Material Is Used for Baby Chair Shells?
PP is the usual choice for seat shells and trays, for its toughness and easy cleaning. HDPE suits some low-cost or outdoor chairs, and ABS can be used for glossy trays or decorative panels.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Baby Chair?
Yes. Share the shell drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, number of parts per set and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine or discuss larger sizes.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Large Baby Care Parts Too?
Depending on size, yes. Machines in this range can also mould baby potty and training toilet bodies, stroller and pram parts and milk powder containers, subject to the mould.
