Injection Moulding Machine for Snack Cups
Snack cups are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with the PP cup body and lid ring moulded separately and the silicone flap lid made as an LSR part. Cup depth, rim diameter and cavity count decide machine size. Ejection is the main process concern, since a deep thin cup can stick to the core under vacuum.
For snack cups, machine choice depends on the opening stroke needed to clear the cup, injection speed to fill the thin wall, and ejection that releases the cup cleanly. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for snack cup parts and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Snack Cup Moulding
A snack cup is a thin-wall PP container with handles and a lid ring that must lock without loose crumbs escaping. Points to cover:
- Fast injection to fill thin cup walls to the rim
- Air-assisted ejection to break vacuum on a deep core
- Opening stroke that clears the full cup depth
- Slides or split cavities for moulded side handles
- Round, flat rim so the lid ring locks evenly
- Food-contact PP in bright colours with masterbatch
Recommended Machine for Snack Cups
Lid rings and small toddler cups fit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger cups, multi-cavity moulds with side handles, or tools with long cores for deep bodies often need the mould space of the C Series (140-320 T). Higher cavity cup moulds on a hot runner can move to the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What snack cup makers usually ask before choosing a machine.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Snack Cups?
Lid rings and small cup bodies often run on E Series machines. Handled cups in multi-cavity moulds, or deeper bodies, move to the C or H Series depending on mould height and stroke. How Is the Silicone Flap Lid Made?
The star-cut silicone flap is a liquid silicone rubber part made on a separate LSR process, then fitted into the PP lid ring. Overmoulded flap lids can be discussed separately.Do Snack Cup Handles Need Slides in the Mould?
Closed loop side handles form an undercut, so the mould often uses slides or a split cavity. This adds mould width and may push the cup onto a larger platen size.
What Causes an Oval Rim on a Snack Cup?
Uneven cooling between core and cavity, an off-centre gate or early ejection while the wall is warm. A centre gate on the base and balanced water channels keep the rim round for the lid ring. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Snack Cup?
Yes. Share the cup and lid drawings or samples, material, part weights, mould size, cavities and required output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Toddler Feeding Parts Too?
Yes. The same type of machine can mould baby sippers, suction bowls and plates, feeding bottle caps and fruit feeder handles, subject to each mould.
