Injection Moulding Machine for Suction Bowls and Plates

Baby suction bowls and plates are made on injection moulding machines: rigid PP versions on horizontal machines, and all-silicone versions on LSR machines. Machine size follows plate projected area, depth and cavity count. Flatness of the base matters most, because a warped base will not hold suction.

For rigid bowls and plates, selection looks at clamp size for a wide flat part, cooling for flatness and an accurate groove for the suction base. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for PP suction bowls, builds special purpose machines for silicone versions, and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Suction Bowl and Plate Moulding

A rigid suction bowl is a PP body with a groove or ring that holds a soft silicone suction base. The machine and mould need:

  • Clamping force for the wide projected area of divided plates
  • Balanced cooling for a flat base that seals
  • Accurate groove dimensions for the silicone suction ring
  • Even wall thickness to avoid sink below dividers
  • Ejection that releases deep bowls without stress whitening
  • LSR process setup for all-silicone bowls and mats

Recommended Machine for Suction Bowls and Plates

PP bowls and small plates often fit the E Series (75-180 T). Wide divided plates or multi-cavity bowl moulds may need C Series (140-320 T) and H Series (120-350 T) machines for clamping force and platen space. All-silicone suction bowls need LSR moulding, so Pratishna Engineers builds a special purpose machine to application for them.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of baby mealtime bowls and plates.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Suction Bowls and Plates?
It depends on the material. PP bowls and plates run on the E, C or H Series according to plate size and cavities, while all-silicone versions need an LSR machine built to application.
  • Why Does the Suction Base Fail to Hold?
A base that is not flat, or a groove out of size, lets air in under the suction ring. Warpage from uneven cooling and PP shrinkage is a frequent cause, so cooling layout and holding pressure are set with care.
  • Are All-Silicone Suction Bowls Injection Moulded?
Some are made by LSR injection, which suits higher volumes and fine detail. Others are compression moulded from solid silicone. Pratishna Engineers can discuss a special purpose LSR machine once the bowl design and output are known.
  • How Do Divided Plate Moulds Affect Filling?
Dividers split the flow and create weld lines where melt fronts meet. Placing the gate near the centre, venting where fronts join and keeping wall thickness even under each divider all reduce weld lines and sink marks.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Suction Bowl?
Yes. Share the bowl or plate drawing or sample, PP or silicone grade, part weight, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Mealtime Baby Care Parts Too?
Yes. Machines in this range can also mould snack cups, milk powder containers, baby sipper bodies and feeding bottle bodies, subject to mould size and material.
