Injection Moulding Machine for Teethers

Silicone teethers are made on LSR injection moulding machines, where mixed liquid silicone is injected into a heated mould and cured into a soft, solid part. Machine size depends on part volume, cavity count and mould size. Even curing through thick sections and clean demoulding of textured shapes matter most.

For teethers, selection centres on accurate dosing for thick, heavy shots, cure time in a hot mould, and handling of soft parts with undercuts. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose machines to application for LSR teethers and can recommend a configuration for your range.

Machine Requirements for Teether Moulding

Teethers are thicker and heavier than most LSR parts, often with bumps, ridges and ring shapes that babies chew. The process needs:

  • Dosing accuracy for heavier LSR shots per cycle
  • Even mould heating so thick sections cure fully
  • Cure time set by the thickest wall section
  • Demoulding of soft undercuts, rings and textured surfaces
  • Vent design that clears air from deep bumps and ridges
  • Pigment dosing for consistent teether colour shades

Recommended Machine for Teethers

Teether moulds range from single large shapes to multi-cavity small rings, and LSR needs dosing, mixing and mould heating set up for the process. Each special purpose machine from Pratishna Engineers is built to application, with shot volume, clamp and mould space sized to your teether design. TPE teethers are thermoplastic and can be discussed separately.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What teether makers usually ask when moving into silicone moulding.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Teethers?
Silicone teethers need a machine set up for LSR processing, not a standard thermoplastic machine. Pratishna Engineers specifies a special purpose machine from the teether shape, shot volume and planned cavities.
  • Why Do Thick Teethers Need Longer Cure Times?
Heat has to reach the centre of the part before it cures, so cure time grows with wall thickness. Steady mould temperature across all cavities and a design without very thick lumps keep cure time and part quality under control.
  • Can Teethers Be Moulded in TPE Instead of Silicone?
Yes. TPE is a thermoplastic, so TPE teethers are moulded like other plastics, with cooling in place of heat curing. Share the part to discuss a machine for a TPE version.
  • How Are Textured Surfaces and Undercuts Released?
Soft LSR stretches over moderate undercuts, so many teethers are pulled or blown off the core without slides. Fine texture is etched into the cavity, and good venting keeps it sharp without trapped air marks.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Teether?
Yes. Share the teether drawing or sample, silicone or TPE grade, part weight, mould dimensions, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on a machine built to application.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Soft-Touch Baby Care Parts Too?
Yes. An LSR machine can also mould bottle teats, pacifier teats, silicone suction bowls and soft spoon tips, with each mould checked for shot size and heating.
