Injection Moulding Machine for Handle Grips
Bicycle handle grips are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from TPE, TPR or PVC, often over a hard PP or ABS core moulded first. Grip length, cavity count and sleeve shot weight set machine size. Keeping the long core pin central, so the wall stays even and the grip strips off cleanly, is the main process point.
Grip moulding depends on a stable melt temperature for soft compounds, a core pin that does not deflect and dependable stripping. Pratishna Engineers provides horizontal injection moulding machines for single-material and overmoulded grips and can advise on a machine for your mould.

Machine Requirements for Handle Grip Moulding
Grips are soft, long parts formed on a single core pin, and that shapes the machine choice. Check these points:
- Low, steady melt temperature for TPE and TPR
- PVC-suited screw and barrel for PVC grips
- Mould height and stroke for long core pins
- Ejector or air-assist stripping of the soft sleeve
- Insert loading space for overmoulding on a hard core
- Fine knurl and texture filled without flow lines
Recommended Machine for Handle Grips
Grips are light, so tonnage is rarely the limit. Mould length, core pin stroke and cavity count decide the frame. Many grip moulds run on the E Series (75-180 T), while the H Series (120-350 T) takes longer tools, higher cavity counts or overmoulding moulds with a hard core loaded as an insert.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Common questions from grip and accessory makers.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Handle Grips?
The E Series covers many grip moulds because the part is light. The H Series comes in for long multi-cavity tools or overmoulding moulds, where opening stroke and mould space matter more than clamping force. How Are Two-Material Grips Made?
A hard PP or ABS core is moulded first, then placed on the core pin of a second mould, and the soft TPE or TPR is moulded over it. A soft grade chosen to suit the core material is needed for a good bond. Two-shot grips are a separate process. Can PVC Grips Run on the Same Machine?
Yes, if the screw and barrel suit PVC. PVC degrades with heat and long residence time, giving burn marks and corrosive gases, so a PVC-suited screw, controlled heater zones and purging at shutdown are needed.
How Is the Soft Grip Removed From the Core Pin?
Grips are usually stripped off by an ejector plate or with air blown between the grip and the core. Enough cooling time and a polished core with suitable draft let the grip slide off without tearing or stretching. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Handle Grip?
Yes. Share the grip drawing or sample, length, soft and core materials, part weight, cavities, mould size and quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Bicycle Accessories Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould brake levers, bell housings, cable end caps and toe clips, subject to the mould and material.
