Injection Moulding Machine for Cosmetic Bottle Caps and Closures
Cosmetic bottle caps and closures, including screw caps, flip-tops and disc-tops, are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines with multi-cavity hot runner moulds, from PP, HDPE, ABS or SAN. Cavity count, injection pressure for thin walls and mould height decide machine size, and flip-top hinges must be flexed straight after ejection.
Selection for caps weighs fast, repeatable injection and a clamp margin for thin walls against the mould height of a high-cavity hot runner tool. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for cosmetic closure production and can recommend a configuration for your cap and cavity plan.

Machine Requirements for Cosmetic Cap Moulding
Cosmetic closures run at high volume with thin walls, fine threads and often a hinge. Points to check:
- Fast injection speed and pressure for thin cap walls
- Clamp margin for many cavities at high fill pressure
- Mould height and stroke for hot runner and stripper tools
- Balanced hot runner so every cavity fills alike
- PP grades that flex at the flip-top living hinge
- Steady shrinkage for thread fit on the bottle neck
Recommended Machine for Cosmetic Bottle Caps
Cap tools with a moderate number of cavities often run on the E Series (75-180 T). High-cavity hot runner moulds, with their larger projected area and mould height, step up to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T). Injection speed and fill pressure are matched to the thinnest wall.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions closure makers ask about machines and moulds.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Cosmetic Bottle Caps?
Series choice follows the cavity plan. Low and medium cavity cap tools suit the E Series, while high-cavity hot runner moulds for screw caps and flip-tops usually need the platen space and clamp of the C or H Series. Are Cosmetic Cap Threads Stripped or Unscrewed?
Small PP and HDPE caps with shallow threads are usually stripped off the core with a stripper ring. Stiff ABS or SAN caps, or deep threads, need an unscrewing mould, which adds mould height and cycle time. Why Is a Flip-Top Hinge Flexed After Ejection?
Flexing the PP living hinge while it is still warm orients the material across the hinge and makes it tough. A hinge left to cool unflexed can crack early in use. Some tools close the lid before ejection.
How Is a Disc-Top Cap Moulded?
A disc-top is usually a base and a pivoting disc moulded separately, often in a family mould or two matched tools, then snapped together. Pivot fit and dispensing hole alignment depend on steady shrinkage in both parts. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Cosmetic Cap?
Yes. Share the cap drawing or sample, neck finish, material, cavity count, runner type, mould dimensions and target output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Cosmetic Closure Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould lotion and airless pump components, roll-on ball seats and collars, mascara tube caps and cream jar lids, subject to the mould.
