Injection Moulding Machine for Makeup Brush and Applicator Handles

Makeup brush and applicator handles are made on injection moulding machines from ABS, PP, SAN and PCR-ABS, often on vertical machines when a ferrule or bristle head is moulded in. Insert type, cavity count and handle length set the machine, since shot weight is small. Surface finish matters most because handles are painted or metallised.

Machine selection for brush handles focuses on safe insert loading, a fault-free cosmetic surface and a mould layout that keeps loading time short. Pratishna Engineers supplies vertical and horizontal injection moulding machines for makeup brush handles and can recommend a configuration.

Making Makeup Brush Handles?

Share the handle drawing, insert type, material and finish, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a vertical or horizontal machine.

Machine Requirements for Makeup Brush Handle Moulding

Handles are light parts, but the insert and the finish make the moulding demanding. Machine selection should cover:

  • Open lower mould for loading ferrules or bristle heads
  • Insert held by gravity while the mould closes
  • Flow line and sink free surface for metallising
  • Gate hidden at the ferrule end of the handle
  • Drying of ABS, SAN and PCR-ABS before moulding
  • Mould layout that keeps operator loading time short

Recommended Machine for Makeup Brush Handles

Handles moulded around a ferrule or bristle head suit the Vertical PV Series (40-55 T) for smaller tools and the Vertical PVDL Series (40-80 T) for more cavities or longer handles. Plain handles, with the ferrule fitted after moulding, can run in multi-cavity moulds on the E Series (75-180 T), and the H Series (120-350 T) takes larger family tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What brush makers ask most before choosing a handle moulding machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Makeup Brush Handles?
For insert moulded handles a vertical machine is the usual choice, PV Series for small tools and PVDL Series for larger ones. Handles without inserts can be moulded on horizontal E Series machines, or the H Series for big family moulds.
  • Why Is a Vertical Machine Used for Insert Moulded Handles?
The lower mould half faces up, so a ferrule or bristle head placed in it stays put by gravity while the mould closes. On a horizontal machine the insert has to be held by pins or magnets, which adds mould work and the risk of a dropped insert.
  • What Surface Faults Show After Painting or Metallising?
Metallising shows every flow line, weld line, sink mark and gate blush. Polish the cavity, keep wall thickness even, and keep mould release spray off the parts, since it can stop paint or metal coating from adhering.
  • Can PCR-ABS Be Used for Brush Handles?
Yes, often for painted or metallised handles where the coating covers colour variation. It needs thorough drying and a consistent grade from one supplier, because changes in melt flow between lots show up as short shots or flash.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Makeup Brush Handle?
Yes. Share the handle drawing or sample, insert type, material, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and required output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Cosmetic Applicator Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould mascara wands and stems, lip gloss applicators, hair brush handles and comb bodies, checked against each insert and mould.
