Injection Moulding Machine for Toothbrush Handles
Toothbrush handles with a soft grip are made on two-shot injection moulding machines in multi-cavity moulds, with a PP, SAN or ABS body and a TPE grip. Cavity count, handle length and each material’s shot weight set machine size. The TPE grade must match the body resin so the grip bonds.
Machine selection for toothbrush handles centres on the two-shot process, tuft-hole quality and warp control on a long, thin part. Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose injection moulding machines to application for two-shot handles, supplies horizontal machines for single-material handles and can recommend a configuration.
Moulding Toothbrush Handles?
Share the handle drawing, both materials and cavity count, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on a two-shot or single-material machine.
Machine Requirements for Toothbrush Handle Moulding
Every toothbrush handle goes straight to a tufting machine and then into the mouth, so the moulding leaves little room for error:
- Second injection unit for the TPE grip shot
- Rotary or index-plate mould movement between shots
- TPE grade matched to the PP, SAN or ABS body
- Round, burr-free tuft holes for the tufting machine
- Balanced flow to stop warp along the thin handle
- Quick, clean colour changes for multi-colour handle ranges
Recommended Machine for Toothbrush Handles
Two-shot handles need a second injection unit and a rotary or index-plate tool, so they come under Special Purpose machines built to application. Single-material handles, and rigid bodies that get their grip in a second mould, run on the E Series (75-180 T). High-cavity handle moulds go on the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T).
Not Sure Which Machine You Need?
Say whether the grip is two-shot or separate, and share the cavity count.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Common questions from toothbrush makers setting up handle moulding.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Toothbrush Handles?
It depends on the handle. Two-shot handles with a soft grip need a special purpose machine built around that tool. Single-material handles run on a standard horizontal machine, usually the E Series, or the C or H Series for high-cavity moulds. Why Does the TPE Grip Peel Off the Handle?
The grip relies on a chemical bond with the body resin, so the TPE must be a grade made to bond with that substrate. A cold body at the second shot, or mould release spray left on the substrate, also weakens the bond. What Keeps Tuft Holes Ready for the Tufting Machine?
Tuft holes are formed by fine core pins in the head. Pins have to stay straight, vented and unworn so the holes come out round, with no flash or burr that would block the tuft or cut the filament.
How Is Warp Controlled on a Long, Thin Handle?
Gate position and even cooling along the length keep the handle straight. Uneven wall sections, or ejection while the handle is still soft, will bend it, and a bent handle does not seat properly in the tufting fixture. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Toothbrush Handle?
Yes. Share the handle drawing or sample, body and grip materials, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and production target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Personal Care Parts Too?
Yes. Related machines can mould hair brush bases, makeup brush handles, toothbrush holders and comb bodies, with the two-shot or single-material choice made for each mould.
