Injection Moulding Machine for Cable Ties, Clips and Saddles

Cable ties are moulded from PA66 nylon on horizontal injection moulding machines, in very high-cavity moulds, with clips and saddles in PA66 or PP. Tie length, cavity count and platen width decide the machine size. Filling the long thin strap fully before the pawl freezes is the main process point, so injection speed and venting matter.

For ties, clips and saddles, machine selection weighs mould width for long ties, fast fill and shot weight against cavity count. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for this work and can recommend a configuration for your tie lengths.

Machine Requirements for Cable Tie Moulding

A tie must lock in one pull, hold its rated load and flex without cracking. Points the machine has to cover:

  • Fast injection speed to fill long thin straps
  • Venting at strap tips to prevent short shots
  • Sharp, flash-free pawl inside the tie head
  • Tie-bar spacing that fits wide high-cavity tie moulds
  • PA66 drying and moisture conditioning after moulding
  • Hot runner temperature balance across many cavities

Recommended Machine for Cable Ties, Clips and Saddles

Short ties, clips and conduit saddles in multi-cavity moulds run well on the E Series (75-180 T). Long ties need wide moulds, and very high cavity counts raise shot weight and clamping force, so the H Series (120-350 T) is the usual choice for those tools.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Frequent machine questions from cable tie and clip makers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Cable Ties, Clips and Saddles?
Clips, saddles and short ties fit the E Series. Long ties and very high-cavity tie moulds need wider platens and more shot capacity, which the H Series provides.
  • Why Do Moulded Cable Ties Snap When First Used?
Freshly moulded PA66 is dry and brittle. Many makers condition ties in humid air or water after moulding so the strap regains moisture and flexibility before packing.
  • How Does Tie Length Affect the Machine?
Longer ties need a longer flow path and a wider mould. That raises the injection speed and pressure needed, and the mould must fit between the tie-bars.
  • Are Hot Runner Moulds Used for Cable Ties?
Often, yes. A hot runner cuts runner waste on high-cavity tie moulds, but every drop must run at matched temperature or some ties fill short.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Cable Ties?
Yes. Share tie lengths and widths, clip or saddle drawings, material grade, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity count and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical Building Products Too?
Yes. Similar machines can produce cable glands, wall plugs, terminal blocks and conduit couplers, subject to mould and material.
