Injection Moulding Machine for Switch and Socket Contact Carriers
Switch and socket contact carriers are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from heat and arc-resistant PA66 or PBT, often glass-filled, in multi-cavity moulds. Cavity count and the detail of contact pockets decide the machine. Pocket sizes must hold after shrinkage, or contacts sit loose and switching action changes.
Carrier machine selection focuses on small, repeatable shots, drying of nylon and polyester grades and wear from glass fibre. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for contact carrier production and can recommend a configuration for your carrier mould.

Machine Requirements for Contact Carrier Moulding
Inside each switch or socket, the carrier locates brass contacts and springs and insulates them from each other. Machine needs:
- Tight pocket and slot sizes after shrinkage
- Glass-filled grades with a wear-resistant screw and barrel
- Drying of PA66 and PBT before moulding
- Thin insulating walls filled without short shots
- Small shots held steady across many cavities
- Pivot and rocker seats free of flash
Recommended Machine for Switch and Socket Contact Carriers
Contact carriers are small, dense parts, and E Series machines (75-180 T) take nearly all carrier moulds. Larger socket bases, multi-gang carriers or moulds with high cavity counts and side actions may call for H or C Series capacity.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What switch and socket makers ask about moulding contact carriers.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Switch and Socket Contact Carriers?
Mostly the E Series, as carriers are compact. Socket bases with more poles, multi-gang parts and moulds with many cavities may be placed on the C or H Series. Why Must the Carrier Grade Resist Heat and Arcing?
Contacts make and break current next to the carrier wall. A heat and arc-resistant PA66 or PBT grade keeps the wall from charring, softening or tracking in use.Are Contacts Moulded Into the Carrier?
Contacts and springs are usually pressed into moulded pockets after moulding. Carriers with moulded-in contacts need insert loading and a mould review before a machine is chosen.
Can Urea Carriers Be Made on a Thermoplastic Machine?
No. Urea is a thermoset and needs a different moulding process. PA66 and PBT carriers run on standard horizontal machines with the right screw and drying. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Contact Carrier?
Yes. Share the carrier drawing or sample, material grade, part weights, mould dimensions, number of cavities and production target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical Building Products Too?
Yes. Similar machines can produce modular switch plates, terminal blocks, plug tops and MCB housings, subject to the mould.
