Injection Moulding Machine for Lamp Holders, Ceiling Roses and Batten Holders
Lamp holders, ceiling roses and batten holders are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from FR PC and PBT, usually in multi-cavity moulds. Urea, melamine and DMC versions need a thermoset machine. Cavities and shot weight set machine size. The inner contact carrier is the critical part, since ball pressure and glow wire tests are run on the finished holder.
Selection here centres on the two-part holder build, a PC outer and a PBT inner carrying the brass contacts, and on seats that hold the E27 screw shell firm under torque. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for holder and rose production and can recommend a configuration, including special purpose machines built to application for thermoset ranges.

Machine Requirements for Lamp Holder Moulding
A holder is type tested as a finished part, so the moulding has to hold strength and dimensions at the contacts and the lamp cap. Look for:
- PC outer shell and PBT inner moulded in matched tools
- Contact pockets sized for brass contacts fitted after moulding
- Solid, void-free seats for the E27 screw shell
- Thread forming for shade rings on pendant holders
- Drying of PC and PBT before moulding
- Thermoset cell with mould brushing for urea versions
Recommended Machine for Lamp Holders and Ceiling Roses
Outer shells and inner carriers for holders, roses and batten holders fit many E Series (75-180 T) machines. Higher cavity counts and family moulds for a full range step up to H Series (120-350 T) machines, or the C Series (140-320 T), depending on mould size. Urea and DMC holders for economy and tender ranges need a thermoset machine, built under Special Purpose.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions holder and fitting makers ask us about moulding these parts.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Lamp Holders?
Thermoplastic holders run on horizontal machines, often the E Series for single parts and the C or H Series for high-cavity and family moulds. Urea and DMC holders need a Special Purpose thermoset machine built to application. Why Are B22 Holders Made in Two Different Plastics?
The PC outer casing gives impact strength and a clean finish. The PBT or engineering plastic inner holds the brass contacts near the lamp, where heat and the ball pressure test are harder on the material. Each part has its own mould.Which Tests Does a Moulded Lamp Holder Have to Pass?
Type tests are run on the finished holder, not a test plaque. They include a ball pressure test, a glow wire test on parts that hold live parts in place, and a torque test on the E27 screw shell. Sink or voids at contact seats can cause failures.
Can Urea Formaldehyde Holders Be Moulded on the Same Machine?
No. Urea is a thermoset, still used on economy and government tender ranges. It needs a thermoset machine with mould brushing and flash handling built into the cell, which Pratishna Engineers builds to application. Ceramic and porcelain holders are not moulded parts. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Lamp Holder?
Yes. Share the holder type, drawings of the outer and inner parts, resin grades, mould sizes, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Electrical and Lighting Fittings Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould terminal blocks, connector strips, luminaire junction boxes, LED bulb housings and driver enclosures, subject to the mould and grade.
