Injection Moulding Machine for Door Catches, Bumpers and Damper Housings

Door catches, bumpers and damper housings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, often in multi-cavity moulds, from POM, PA66, ABS or TPE. Shot size, cavities and any side cores decide machine size. For damper housings, a stable bore size matters most, because the housing carries an oil-filled cylinder.

Machine choice for this cabinet hardware centres on precise shots for small functional parts and stable sizes over long runs. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for door catch and damper housing moulding and can recommend a configuration from your part samples.

Machine Requirements for Door Catch and Damper Housing Moulding

These parts are judged by how they sound, feel and last over repeated door closing. Machine considerations:

  • Stable bore size on damper housings holding oil cylinders
  • POM and PA66 processing without voids in thick sections
  • Spring arms on catches filled evenly with no weld lines
  • Low-pressure moulding of soft TPE bumpers without flash
  • Moisture control and drying for PA66 catches
  • Multi-cavity mould space for small catches and bumpers

Recommended Machine for Door Catches and Damper Housings

Catches, bumpers and damper housings are small, and the E Series (75-180 T) handles many of their moulds, multi-cavity tools included. Larger housings with side cores, or high-cavity hot runner moulds for catches, can move to the H Series (120-350 T), where platen space and clamping force allow for the bigger tool.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions cabinet hardware makers ask about catches, bumpers and dampers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Door Catches and Damper Housings?
An E Series machine runs many catch, bumper and housing moulds. Tools with side cores for housing ports, or large cavity counts, can need the H Series. Tonnage is set from projected area and material.
  • Can a Soft TPE Bumper Be Moulded Onto a Rigid Catch?
A rigid catch with a TPE bumper moulded on is a two-shot part and needs a machine built to the application. TPE bumpers moulded on their own and then assembled run on the standard E and H Series.
  • Why Does Damper Housing Size Matter So Much?
The housing holds an oil-filled cylinder, so a bore that is oval or out of size can leak or change the damping. Even wall sections, balanced cooling and stable holding pressure keep the bore round across a run.
  • How Is Catch Fatigue Life Checked?
Catches and spring arms are cycled open and closed many thousands of times in testing. Weld lines in the arm, undried PA66 or sharp corners shorten fatigue life, so check gate position and drying before the test.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Door Catch or Damper Housing?
Yes. Share the part drawings or samples, material, part weight, side cores, cavities per mould and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Cabinet Hardware Parts Too?
Yes. Hinge parts, drawer channel components, furniture knobs and push-fit clips can be moulded on the same series, depending on the mould.
