Injection Moulding Machine for Pipe End Caps and Leg Glides
Pipe end caps for furniture tubes and legs are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, in multi-cavity moulds, from LDPE, PP, PVC or TPE. Cap size and cavity count decide machine size. Fit on the tube is the critical point, since shrinkage shifts the interference dimension from one setting to the next.
Selection for end caps and glides is about filling thin skirts fully and holding a steady cap size from shot to shot. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tube end cap production and can suggest a set-up for your tube sizes and moulds.

Machine Requirements for Pipe End Cap Moulding
An end cap is judged by how it grips the tube and whether it splits when pressed on. Machine points to check:
- Steady holding pressure for a repeatable interference fit
- Full fill of thin skirts and gripping fins
- PVC-suited screw and barrel where PVC caps are run
- Ejection off deep cores without stretching soft LDPE caps
- Mould space for family tools covering several tube sizes
- Recess for felt or TPE glide pads fitted afterwards
Recommended Machine for Pipe End Caps
End caps and leg glides are small to medium parts, so the E Series (75-180 T) suits many single-size and multi-cavity moulds. Family tools for several tube sizes, larger leg caps or high-cavity hot runner moulds can run on the H Series (120-350 T), where the wider platen takes the bigger mould.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Common questions from makers of tube furniture, racks and chairs.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Pipe End Caps?
Single-size end cap moulds often sit on an E Series machine. Square and rectangular tube caps in several sizes, or larger glide caps, may need an H Series machine. Projected area of all cavities sets the final tonnage. Why Does an End Cap Split When Pressed Onto the Tube?
A split usually starts at a thin skirt that filled or packed poorly, or at a weld line opposite the gate. Better venting, a gate moved toward the skirt or more holding pressure can fix it. A brittle grade also adds to the problem. How Is the Fit Kept Right for Different Tube Tolerances?
Interference depends on cap size after shrinkage and on the tube’s own outside or inside diameter. Measure tubes from your supplier, size the mould to match, then hold mould temperature and holding pressure steady so the cap does not drift.
Can a Felt or TPE Glide Pad Be Added to the Cap?
Felt pads are glued or pressed in after moulding. A TPE pad can be assembled, or moulded on, but moulding a soft pad onto a rigid cap is a two-material process that needs a machine built to the application. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Pipe End Cap?
Yes. Send the tube sizes and gauge, cap drawing or sample, material, part weight, cavities per mould and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Tube Furniture Parts Too?
Yes. Furniture leg feet, fastener caps, caster housings and anchor fasteners can run on the same class of machine, depending on the mould size and shot.
