Injection Moulding Machine for Plastic Tables

Plastic tables are moulded on large horizontal injection moulding machines from PP copolymer, HDPE or talc- or glass-filled PP. The flat top is a very large projected area, so it sets the clamping force even when the part is light. Keeping the top flat after ejection is the main process concern, handled with underside ribs rather than a thicker top.

For a table tool, the decision rests on clamping force, platen size and mould height for a wide, flat top. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines and reviews table enquiries case by case, since table moulds often need more force than its standard series offer.

Moulding Plastic Tables?

Send the top dimensions, material and mould size, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on the tonnage your table tool needs.

Machine Requirements for Plastic Table Moulding

A table top is wide and flat, and these factors decide which press can carry the mould:

  • Clamping force for a very large projected area
  • Platen size and tie-bar spacing for a wide mould
  • Underside ribbing in the tool to keep the top flat
  • Uniform mould cooling across the top to limit warpage
  • Stable process window when running recycled PP grades
  • Gas assist channels where legs or rails are hollow

Recommended Machine for Plastic Tables

Because of the flat top, table moulds tend to exceed the force of the H Series (120-350 T) and Two-Platen PHM Series (160-350 T). Send the top size, mould dimensions and material, and Pratishna Engineers will discuss whether a standard series or a special purpose machine built to application can be considered. Small side and children’s tables are reviewed the same way.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from table makers sizing a machine for a table tool.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Plastic Tables?
High-tonnage horizontal machines with large platens make plastic tables. Required force rises with top area, so even small tables can sit above the H and PHM ranges. Pratishna Engineers can check this from the mould.
  • Why Does a Plastic Table Top Warp After Moulding?
Uneven cooling and a thick top are the usual causes. Thick sections sink and pull the surface out of flat. Ribbing the underside, balancing the cooling circuits and controlling ejection temperature keep the top flat.
  • Can Recycled PP Be Used for Plastic Tables?
Recycled PP is workable for economy tables, but it changes melt flow and shrinkage. Qualify each recycled lot with trials rather than switching mid-run, and check flatness and load strength on the trial parts.
  • Is Glass-Filled PP Needed for a Table Top?
Talc- or glass-filled PP stiffens the top and reduces sag under load. Glass fibre wears the screw and barrel faster and can add warpage through fibre orientation, so choose the filler on the load the table must carry.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Plastic Table?
Yes. Share the table drawing or sample, top size, material, shot weight, mould dimensions and target output. Pratishna Engineers will review the clamping force and advise on what can be offered.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Furniture Parts Too?
Large horizontal machines also mould monobloc chairs, plastic stools and plastic drawers. Smaller fittings such as pipe end caps and furniture leg glides run on smaller presses.
