Injection Moulding Machine for Toggles, Cord Stoppers and Cord Ends

Toggles, cord stoppers and cord ends come off horizontal injection moulding machines, usually from POM, PA6 or ABS in multi-cavity tools. A spring cord lock needs two tools, one for the body and one for the plunger, so cavity count and shot weight are set per part. Cord retention after repeated use matters most.

Machine selection here focuses on a true plunger bore and a plunger that slides without rattling, so the lock grips the cord the same way every time. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for cord lock and toggle production and can recommend a configuration for both moulds.

Share your body and plunger drawings, material, cord size and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.

Machine Requirements for Cord Stopper and Toggle Moulding

Cord locks work by friction between plunger, body and cord, so small dimensional changes show up as slipping or stiff locks. Main checks:

  • Round, flash-free cord holes through body and plunger
  • Plunger fit held by steady POM shrinkage
  • Gate kept away from the spring seat
  • UV-stabilised grades for outerwear and outdoor gear
  • Grip ribs on the plunger that fill fully
  • Matched cavity count for body and plunger moulds

Recommended Machine for Toggles and Cord Stoppers

Each piece is small, and a cord lock line often runs the body and plunger moulds side by side. Hybrid PH (120-140 T), with its electric injection, suits small precise plunger tools, and the E Series (75-180 T) covers many body moulds. The H Series (120-350 T) takes large hot runner or family moulds for toggles and cord ends.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from makers of cord locks, toggles and cord ends.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Cord Stoppers and Toggles?
Small horizontal machines run these parts. Hybrid PH and E Series machines fit typical body and plunger moulds, and the H Series is chosen when a hot runner or family tool needs more clamping force and shot capacity.
  • How Many Moulds Does a Spring Cord Lock Need?
Two moulded parts, a body and a plunger, plus a steel spring fitted at assembly. The two moulds can run on separate machines or be matched in cavity count so output stays balanced for the assembly step.
  • Why Does a Cord Stopper Lose Its Grip?
Grip falls when the plunger or body hole is oversize, the spring seat is distorted or grip ribs are short-filled. Holding pressure, mould temperature and venting at the ribs control these, and POM shrinkage must stay steady across lots.
  • Can Cord Stoppers Have a Soft-Touch Grip?
Yes, a TPE grip can be added to a rigid body, but that is a two-material part needing a two-shot machine built to application. Single-material POM, PA6 or ABS parts run on the listed series.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Cord Stopper?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of body, plunger and cord end, materials, cord diameter range, mould dimensions, cavity counts and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Garment Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould belt buckles and adjusters, zipper pullers, snap fasteners and plastic buttons, depending on each tool and material.
