Injection Moulding Machine for Lube Containers
Lube containers such as lubricant pails are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, often in single-cavity moulds, from HDPE or PP copolymer. Machine size depends on the projected area of the pail and lid, shot weight and mould height for the deep body. Uniform wall thickness, which governs drop and stacking strength, matters most.
For a lube pail, selection looks at clamp tonnage for the rim and lid, opening stroke for the deep body and melt stability on virgin HDPE. Pratishna Engineers offers horizontal injection moulding machines for lubricant packaging and can propose a machine for the pail, lid and fittings.
Moulding Lube Containers?
Share the container size, material, lid and gasket design and output target, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
Machine Requirements for Lube Container Moulding
Lube containers carry heavy oil and must pass drop and stacking tests together with their closure. Machine checks include:
- Even wall thickness around the body for drop strength
- Long mould opening stroke for tall pail bodies
- Lid seat and gasket groove moulded true and flash-free
- Clamp tonnage matched to rim and lid projected area
- Steady melt temperature on virgin HDPE grades
- Balanced cooling to keep the rim round and flat
Recommended Machine for Lube Containers
Smaller lube pails and lids can run on the C Series (140-320 T). Taller bodies and heavier shots fit the H Series (120-350 T), whose clamp reaches the upper end of the range. Large pails and multi-cavity tools beyond that are discussed on request, after a look at the mould.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Answers to questions lubricant and oil packaging makers raise about container moulding.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Lube Containers?
A horizontal machine sized to the pail body is the starting point, with the C Series for smaller containers and the H Series for taller, heavier ones. Lids, caps and handles go on separate, smaller tools. Are Lube Bottles Injection Moulded Too?
Usually not. Small lube bottles and many closed-head cans are blow moulded. Injection moulding work in lube packaging covers the pail, its lid, caps, handles and spouts, so tell us which parts you plan to make.Does Changing the Cap or Gasket Affect a UN Rating?
Yes. A UN rating for oils and chemicals is earned through drop, stacking, pressure and leak tests on the container with its specified closure and gasket as one system. Changing either part means retesting.
Should Lube Containers Use Virgin or Recycled HDPE?
Virgin HDPE is specified where chemical compatibility and contamination matter, as with many lubricants. Recycled blends can vary in melt flow and stress crack resistance, so any blend needs testing with the actual oil first. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Lube Container?
Yes. Share the container drawing or sample, volume, material, wall thickness, lid and gasket design, mould size, cavities and target output, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Industrial Packaging Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines produce paint pails, drum bungs, spout and pourer closures and screw caps for lube and chemical bottles, with tool size deciding the model.
