Injection Moulding Machine for Filter Cartridge Housings and Bayonet Connectors

Filter cartridge housings and bayonet connectors are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines in PP, ABS, PC or PA6, usually in multi-cavity tools for respirator filters. Projected area, cavities and the bayonet lug detail decide machine size. Sealing rib and lug tolerances matter most, because a small gap lets air bypass the filter.

With cartridge housings, machine selection rests on repeatable shots across cavities, accurate lug and rib dimensions, and date coding in the tool. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal and hybrid injection moulding machines for filter housings and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Filter Cartridge Housing Moulding

A cartridge housing must seal to the facepiece and around the filter media with no bypass. Check the machine for:

  • Accurate bayonet lugs and threads cavity to cavity
  • Flat, flash-free sealing ribs at the media seat
  • Date and lot code inserts built into the mould
  • Chemical-resistant PP or PA6 grades, dried where needed
  • Repeatable injection for consistent part weight and shrinkage
  • Balanced runner filling across every cavity

Recommended Machine for Filter Cartridge Housings

Cartridge housings are compact, so cavity count drives tonnage. The Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T), with electric injection, suits multi-cavity housing tools where repeatable shots matter. Small connector moulds fit the E Series (75-180 T), and larger high-cavity or twin-cartridge tools move to the H Series (120-350 T), or the C Series (140-320 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Filter makers usually check these points before choosing a machine for cartridge housings.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Filter Cartridge Housings?
Hybrid PH machines suit multi-cavity cartridge tools where shot repeatability matters, with small connector moulds on the E Series. Bigger or higher-cavity tools move to the C or H Series, sized by projected area and cavity count.
  • What Are the Critical Dimensions on a Cartridge Housing?
The sealing rib that meets the filter media and the bayonet lugs that lock into the facepiece. Warpage, sink behind ribs or flash on lug faces can open a bypass path, so gauge these features on every cavity.
  • Why Is a Date and Lot Code Moulded In?
Filters have a limited shelf life, so buyers usually ask for a moulded date wheel and lot code on each housing. Plan the code inserts at mould design, keep them clean and change them on a fixed schedule.
  • How Is Chemical Resistance Checked?
The housing is checked against the sorbent and the working environment at service temperature. PP and PA6 often suit. Clear PC bodies or windows need a grade check, because some solvents cause stress cracking.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Filter Cartridge Housing?
Yes. Share the housing and connector drawings or samples, material, part weight, mould size, cavities, coding needs and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Respirator Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould half-mask respirator housings, exhalation valve seats and diaphragm carriers, ear defender headband arms and goggles frames, subject to mould and material.
