Injection Moulding Machine for Respirator Housings
Respirator housings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines: PP, ABS, PC or PA6 for cartridge housings and valve bodies, and TPE for the half-mask facepiece, often two-shot. Facepiece size, cavities and the two-material layout set machine size. Sealing-face flatness matters most, because inward leakage decides the test.
Machine selection for a respirator starts by splitting the assembly into soft facepiece, rigid frame, cartridge housings, valve bodies and strap buckles. For two-shot facepieces, Pratishna Engineers builds special purpose machines to application. It also supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for the rigid parts and can recommend a configuration.

Machine Requirements for Respirator Housing Moulding
A half-mask respirator combines soft and rigid mouldings that must seal to each other and to the filter. Points that decide the machine:
- Two-shot route or second tool for the TPE facepiece
- Flat sealing faces on cartridge and valve body mouldings
- Tight bayonet and thread dimensions for filter fit
- Drying for PC and PA6 rigid parts
- Silicone facepieces quoted separately as liquid silicone moulding
- Cavity-to-cavity consistency on small valve and seat parts
Recommended Machine for Respirator Housings
A two-shot facepiece, TPE moulded onto a rigid frame in one cycle, needs a special purpose machine built to application, and Pratishna Engineers builds these. Cartridge housings, valve bodies, seat plates and strap buckles are conventional mouldings: the E Series (75-180 T) covers most of them, and larger facepiece frames or multi-cavity tools suit the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What respirator makers usually ask when they plan facepiece and housing moulding.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Respirator Housings?
It depends on the part. Two-shot facepieces need a special purpose machine built to application. Rigid housings, valve bodies and buckles usually run on the E Series, with the C or H Series for bigger frames or more cavities. Can a Silicone Facepiece Be Moulded on the Same Machine?
No. Silicone facepieces are liquid silicone moulding with their own dosing system, so they need a special purpose machine built to application. TPE facepieces can be moulded two-shot or as a separate part fitted to the frame. What Decides Inward Leakage on a Moulded Respirator?
Mostly sealing-face flatness and valve seat geometry, not material strength. Warpage from uneven cooling, sink on thick seal ribs or flash at the parting line all open leak paths, so measure these faces on first-off parts.
Does a Component Change Affect Respirator Approval?
Yes. Approval applies to the complete respirator with its filter, so a new resin, colourant, tool or supplier for one part can invalidate it. Agree any change with the respirator brand before moulding production parts. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Respirator Housing?
Yes. Share the part list with drawings or samples, materials, two-shot or assembly route, part weights, mould sizes, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend machines.Does the Machine Suit Other Respiratory Protection Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines mould filter cartridge housings and bayonet connectors, exhalation valve seats and diaphragm carriers, goggles frames and ear defender cups, subject to the mould.
