Injection Moulding Machine for Bag Feet, Corner Protectors and Studs

Bag feet, corner protectors and studs are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in high-cavity moulds, from PP, nylon, TPE or TPU depending on how much impact they must absorb. Cavity count and the fixing method decide the mould and machine. Impact strength at low temperature matters most, since airport handling is where these parts fail.

These are small parts run in large numbers, so machine choice is about fitting a high-cavity mould and keeping every cavity full. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal machines for this work and can suggest a size from your cavity plan.

Machine Requirements for Bag Feet and Corner Protector Moulding

Feet and corner parts take the knocks and the scraping, and they come off the machine in large numbers. The points to check are:

  • Balanced filling across every cavity of a high-cavity mould
  • Grades that keep notched impact strength when cold
  • Moulded prongs, screw bosses or rivet holes for fixing
  • Drying of nylon and TPU before moulding
  • Abrasion-resistant faces on feet and corner caps
  • Ejection that does not tear soft TPE parts

Recommended Machine for Bag Feet and Corner Protectors

Bag feet and studs are tiny, and even high-cavity moulds for them usually fit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger corner protectors for hard cases, or tools with very many cavities, can need the H Series (120-350 T) for the extra projected area and mould size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions bag and case makers ask about moulding feet, studs and corner parts.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Bag Feet and Corner Protectors?
Small horizontal machines, mostly the E Series, because the parts stay small even when the mould carries many cavities. Bigger hard-case corner protectors or larger tools move up to the H Series.
  • Which Material Suits Bag Feet and Corner Protectors?
PP and nylon give hard, wear-resistant feet and studs, and ABS suits rigid protectors. TPE and TPU absorb knocks better on case corners but need a bonded or mechanical fixing to stay in place.
  • Why Is Cold Impact Strength Important?
Cases are thrown, stacked and dropped during airport baggage handling, often in cold conditions. A grade that is tough at room temperature can crack when cold, so notched impact at low temperature is the test that counts.
  • How Are Bag Feet Fixed to the Bag?
Feet and studs are usually held by a moulded prong, a screw into a moulded boss or a rivet through the base. The fixing feature is built into the mould and affects the cores and ejection.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Bag Feet?
Yes. Share the drawings or samples, materials, part weights, mould dimensions, number of cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Small Luggage Parts Too?
Yes. E and H Series machines also run trolley rail guides, bag buckles, cord locks and zip pull tabs, subject to the mould and cavity count.
