Injection Moulding Machine for Trolley Components

Luggage trolley components such as handle housings, base brackets and rail guides are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from glass-filled nylon, PC/ABS and POM. Machine size follows the largest part in the set, its cavity count and projected area. Fibre orientation in the base bracket matters most, because that part carries the case load.

A trolley programme is a family of separate tools, so presses are matched to the bracket, the grip and the small latch parts one by one. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for this work and can recommend a configuration for each tool.

Machine Requirements for Trolley Component Moulding

Trolley parts range from load-bearing brackets to small sliding latches, so the machine choice has to cover both. Points to check include:

  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled nylon
  • Dryer capacity for nylon and PC/ABS before moulding
  • Gate placement that aligns fibres along the bracket load path
  • Accurate small shots for POM latch and button parts
  • Mould height and stroke for deep grip housings
  • Clamping force sized to the largest tool in the family

Recommended Machine for Trolley Components

Latches, buttons and rail guides are small and often run in multi-cavity moulds on the E Series (75-180 T). Base brackets, top grip housings and corner guard tools with larger projected areas or deeper cores move to the C Series (140-320 T) or H Series (120-350 T), depending on mould size and cavities.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions trolley and luggage makers ask before they set up moulding for a handle system.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Trolley Components?
Horizontal machines in more than one size. Latches, buttons and guides usually sit in the E Series, while base brackets and large grip housings go to the C or H Series, depending on cavities and mould dimensions.
  • Why Is Glass-Filled Nylon Used for the Handle Base Bracket?
The base bracket takes the full case weight through a lever arm each time the case is pulled. Glass-filled nylon resists that repeated bending, and the part is judged by fatigue testing rather than a single pull test.
  • Are the Telescopic Handle Tubes Moulded Too?
No. The tubes are usually drawn or extruded aluminium. Moulding covers the top grip, push-button housing, internal latch, rail guides, base brackets and corner guards that fit onto those tubes.
  • How Are Soft Corner Guards Produced?
Soft guards are TPE. A separate guard that is clipped or fixed to the shell can run on a standard horizontal machine. A guard overmoulded onto a rigid base is a two-shot job that needs a machine built to application.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Trolley Components?
Yes. Share the list of parts in the set, drawings or samples, materials, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities per tool and monthly volumes, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend machines for each tool.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Luggage Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould luggage wheels, case latches and hinges, luggage lock housings and bag feet, subject to each mould.
