Injection Moulding Machine for Zip Pull Tabs, Pullers and Branded Trim

Zip pull tabs, pullers and branded trims are made on small horizontal injection moulding machines in very high-cavity moulds, from POM, ABS, PC or TPU. Cavity count and mould size set the machine more than the part does. Surface finish matters most: colour match, gloss and a crisp logo are the specification.

With the brand on every tab, selection centres on gate placement, shot accuracy across cavities and clean colour changes. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal machines for pull tab moulding and can recommend a size from your tool.

Machine Requirements for Zip Pull Tab Moulding

A pull tab is small, but it carries the brand and gets judged by eye. Points that decide the result:

  • Gate placed off the logo and visible face
  • Polished or textured tool finish held in every cavity
  • Accurate colour match with masterbatch and clean purging
  • Balanced filling so fine logo detail forms in all cavities
  • Drying of PC, PA6 and TPU before moulding
  • Cord hole or slider loop moulded without flash

Recommended Machine for Zip Pull Tabs

Pull tabs are light, and even very high-cavity moulds usually fit the E Series (75-180 T), where shot accuracy and mould size count for more than clamping force. Tabs overmoulded onto a metal slider or cord, or two-colour tabs, need insert or second-shot moulding and are planned separately with Pratishna Engineers.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions brand trim and zip accessory makers ask most.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Zip Pull Tabs?
Small horizontal machines in the E Series, because tabs are light and the mould, not the part, sets the size. Tool finish and gate position decide the result more than tonnage.
  • How Is the Logo Kept Sharp on a Pull Tab?
Fine logo detail needs full filling and enough holding pressure in every cavity, with the gate kept off the branded face. Worn or unpolished cavities show up as soft edges and dull spots.
  • Can Pull Tabs Be Moulded Onto a Metal Slider?
Yes, pull tabs are often overmoulded onto a die-cast slider or a cord. That needs insert loading or a second shot, so the machine is planned around the insert and should be discussed before quoting.
  • How Are Brand Colours Matched Across Batches?
With a fixed masterbatch and let-down ratio, dried material and the same process settings each run. Colour changes need a full purge, as streaks from the last shade show clearly on small cosmetic parts.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Zip Pull Tab?
Yes. Share the tab drawing or sample, logo and finish requirement, material, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Zip and Bag Trim Parts Too?
Yes. E Series machines can also mould zipper sliders, cord locks and toggles, bag buckles and bag studs, subject to the mould.
