Injection Moulding Machine for Ink Tanks, Refill Bottle Caps and Valves (CISS)

Ink tanks, refill bottle caps and valves for continuous ink supply systems are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in multi-cavity moulds, from PP, PE, POM and TPE. Cavity count and shot weight size the machine. Valve seat accuracy matters most, because a seat that weeps lets solvent ink leak over the shelf life.

Selection for CISS parts centres on repeatable filling of seats and thin sealing lips, plus a polished, well-cooled mould for clear tank bodies. Pratishna Engineers supplies hybrid and horizontal machines for ink tank and valve moulding and can recommend a configuration.

Moulding CISS Tanks and Valves?

Share the tank, cap and valve drawings, ink type and resin, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.

Machine Requirements for Ink Tank, Cap and Valve Moulding

Continuous ink supply parts sit filled with solvent-based ink for months, so sealing and clarity matter more than looks:

  • Repeatable shot and hold for leak-free valve seats
  • Flash-free sealing faces on caps and valve bodies
  • Clarified PP grades and polished moulds for level visibility
  • Resin checked against the ink at storage temperature
  • Unscrewing or stripping release for cap threads
  • Tamper and anti-refill features held to drawing

Recommended Machine for CISS Ink Tanks and Valves

Tanks, caps and valves are small to mid-size parts, and cavity count sets the clamp more than part size. The Hybrid PH Series (120-140 T) leads, with electric injection for repeatable valve and seat filling. The E Series (75-180 T) suits most cap and tank moulds, while high-cavity cap tools go to the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What CISS part makers ask most before choosing a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make CISS Ink Tanks and Valves?
Small horizontal machines with stable injection. Hybrid PH and E Series machines cover most tank, cap and valve moulds, and high-cavity cap tools move up to the H Series.
  • How Is a Clear Ink Tank Body Moulded?
Clarified PP grades are used so the ink level shows. A polished mould, controlled mould temperature and even filling keep flow lines and haze down, and the clarified grade should not be mixed with general regrind.
  • Why Do CISS Valves Weep Over Time?
Usually the seat has flash, ovality or a resin that swells in the ink. Seats are moulded flash-free with steady holding pressure, and the resin is checked against the actual ink at storage temperature, not only at room temperature.
  • Can the TPE Valve Be Moulded on the Same Machine?
A separate TPE valve or seal can be moulded on a standard machine with its own mould. TPE needs a clean barrel, low shear and attention to flash, since soft lips flash easily at the parting line.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Ink Tank or Valve?
Yes. Share the tank, cap and valve drawings or samples, ink type, resins, part weights, mould dimensions, cavity counts and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Ink and Toner Parts Too?
Yes. Ink cartridge housings, toner seals and shutters, cartridge gears and pen barrels can be moulded on the same class of machine, each to its own mould.
