Injection Moulding Machine for Spectacle Cases and Covers

Spectacle cases and covers are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP, ABS or PC, as two shell halves or a one-piece body with a moulded hinge. Case size, cavity count and mould depth set the machine. What decides acceptance is the cosmetic outer face, where sink over hinge bosses and clip mounts is the usual reject.

Machine selection for cases weighs mould depth and opening stroke, cooling for flat shell faces and steady gloss across cavities. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for spectacle case production and can recommend a configuration for your case design.

Machine Requirements for Spectacle Case Moulding

Cases sell on their look and on a lid that keeps closing after months of use. Points for the machine and mould:

  • Opening stroke for deep shells and clean ejection
  • PP living hinge flexed straight after ejection
  • Sink-free cosmetic face over bosses and clip mounts
  • Even cooling so the halves close without gaps
  • Gloss or texture held across cavities and lots
  • Hinge pin and snap fit dimensions held repeatably

Recommended Machine for Spectacle Cases

Spectacle cases are mid-sized parts with some depth. The E Series (75-180 T) suits most case and lid moulds. Larger hard cases, multi-cavity tools or family moulds carrying body and lid together go to the C Series (140-320 T), or to the H Series (120-350 T) where mould height and opening stroke need more room.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions eyewear brands and case makers ask before choosing a moulding machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Spectacle Cases?
Most case tools run on the E Series. Pratishna Engineers would look at the C or H Series where the case is large, the mould is deep, or body and lid share a family mould.
  • Which Material Suits a Hinged Spectacle Case?
A one-piece case with a moulded living hinge needs PP, flexed soon after ejection while the hinge is still warm. ABS and PC cases are moulded as two halves joined by a pin or snap hinge.
  • Can a Spectacle Case Have a Soft-Touch Finish?
Yes. A TPE soft-touch layer can be overmoulded onto the shell, which is a two-material process planned on enquiry. Other routes are a separate TPE part fitted after moulding, or in-mould decoration on the shell.
  • Why Do Case Halves Gap When Closed?
Uneven cooling between core and cavity bows the shell, so the halves open slightly at the ends. Balanced cooling channels, gate position and enough cooling time keep the rims straight.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Spectacle Case?
Yes. Share the case drawing or sample, material, hinge type, finish, mould size, cavity count and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Eyewear Parts Too?
Yes, depending on the mould. Spectacle frames, temple tips and nose pads, and sunglass lenses are related parts on the same class of machine.
