Injection Moulding Machine for Litter Box Hoods, Flaps and Filter Frames
Litter box hoods, flaps and filter frames are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, the hood from PP copolymer or ABS and the flap from TPE or flexible PP. Hood size sets the clamping force and opening stroke. Warpage control matters most, because the hood must still seat on its tray after both parts have shrunk.
Machine selection for hooded litter boxes is led by the hood, a large thin shell, with smaller machines for flaps and filter frames. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for these parts and can recommend a configuration for each mould.

Machine Requirements for Litter Box Hood and Flap Moulding
Hood, flap and filter frame are separate tools that must fit the tray and each other, so the machine needs:
- Clamping force and platen space for a wide hood shell
- Opening stroke that clears the full hood depth
- Even cooling to keep the hood rim flat
- Shrinkage matched to the tray for a close fit
- Flexible TPE or PP flap that swings without taking set
- Filter frame snaps that hold a carbon pad securely
Recommended Machine for Litter Box Hoods and Flaps
Flaps and filter frames are small parts that fit the E Series (75-180 T). The hood is the largest moulding in the set, so it usually runs on a C Series (140-320 T) or, for bigger hoods, an H Series (120-350 T) machine with the platen area and opening stroke to suit. Very large hoods are first checked against tie-bar spacing and mould height.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points that come up when hooded litter boxes move into production.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Litter Box Hoods?
Flaps and filter frames suit the E Series. The hood goes on a C or H Series machine sized to its footprint and depth, chosen together with the machine that moulds the matching tray. Why Must the Hood and Tray Be Approved Together?
Both parts shrink after moulding, and a thin hood can also bow. If each is approved alone, the rim may not seat on the tray. Trial and measure them as a pair, using production moulds and material.Which Material Works for the Litter Box Flap?
Soft TPE or a flexible PP grade. The flap swings many times a day, so it must spring back without taking a permanent set or cracking at the hinge line. Gate the flap so the melt crosses the hinge.
How Is the Filter Frame Designed to Fit?
Each frame holds a carbon pad and must clip in and out by hand. Snap fits need consistent shrinkage and draft, and the frame should stay flat so the pad seals against the hood vent. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Litter Box Hood?
Yes. Share drawings of the hood, flap, filter frame and matching tray, materials, part weights, mould sizes and monthly volume. Pratishna Engineers will suggest machines for each part.Does the Machine Suit Other Pet Care Parts Too?
Yes. It can also mould smaller litter trays, feeder hoppers, fountain housings and carrier doors, subject to each mould.
