Injection Moulding Machine for Pet Carrier Doors, Latches, Vent Grilles and Fittings

Pet carrier doors, latches, vent grilles and fittings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with PP copolymer, glass-filled PA6, POM or ABS as the usual materials. Machine size follows the door frame and grille area, the number of slides and the cavity count. Latch strength matters most, since the latch must hold while an animal pushes on the door.

Machine selection for carrier fittings covers small load-bearing latches and larger open grilles with many weld lines. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for these carrier parts and can recommend a configuration. The carrier shell itself is a larger moulding reviewed separately.

Machine Requirements for Pet Carrier Fitting Moulding

Carrier fittings carry load and take repeated opening, so the machine and mould setup must handle:

  • Venting at grille bars so weld lines keep strength
  • Dried glass-filled PA6 for latches and hinge pins
  • Screw and check ring suited to glass fibre wear
  • Tight POM shrinkage control for sliding latch parts
  • Slides or core pulls for latch pockets and pin holes
  • Weld lines kept away from latch hooks and hinge lugs

Recommended Machine for Pet Carrier Fittings

Latches, hinge pins, handles and small fittings fit the E Series (75-180 T), often in multi-cavity or family moulds. Door frames and wide vent grilles have a large projected area and many cores, so they move to an H Series (120-350 T) or a C Series (140-320 T) machine. The carrier shell is a much bigger moulding and is discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What carrier makers ask about doors, latches and grilles.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Pet Carrier Fittings?
Small latches and pins suit the E Series. Door frames and vent grilles go on a C or H Series machine based on their area. Full carrier shells need more clamping force than these parts and are reviewed separately.
  • How Are Carrier Latches Tested?
Latch retention is checked by fatigue testing, with the latch opened and loaded many times, because failures come from repeated use rather than one pull. Any change of resin or regrind level calls for a fresh test.
  • Why Do Vent Grilles Break Along Weld Lines?
Each opening splits the flow, so a grille has many weld lines. Poor venting traps air where the flows meet and leaves weak joins. Vents at those points, correct melt temperature and a good gate layout restore strength.
  • Does Glass-Filled Nylon Need Drying Before Moulding?
Yes. PA6 absorbs moisture, and wet material gives splay and brittle latches. Dry it before moulding, then design and test parts at conditioned moisture, since nylon properties change after it takes up water from the air.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Pet Carrier Fitting?
Yes. Share drawings or samples of the door, latch, grille and fittings, materials, part weights, mould sizes, cavities and monthly volume. Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine for each mould.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pet Care Parts Too?
Yes. It can also mould collar buckles, feeder dispensing parts, litter scoops and cage clips, depending on the mould.
