Injection Moulding Machine for Strainer Baskets, Filter Housings and Sight Bowls

Strainer baskets, filter housings and sight bowls for pump lines are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in PP, glass-filled PA66, and clear SAN or PC for bowls. Housing diameter, basket length and the number of perforations set the tonnage and opening stroke. Gate and vent layout matter most on baskets, where every hole adds a weld line.

Transparent bowls add drying, polished tooling and low-stress moulding to the list. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for strainers, filter housings and sight bowls and can match a machine to your housing size.

Machine Requirements for Strainer Basket, Filter Housing and Sight Bowl Moulding

A strainer set mixes a perforated basket, a pressure housing and often a clear bowl. Each brings its own machine needs:

  • Gate and vent layout for weld lines around every perforation
  • Opening stroke and ejection for long, deep baskets
  • Drying for PC and glass-filled PA66 before moulding
  • Polished tool and low-stress fill for clear SAN or PC bowls
  • Thread and seal groove tolerance for the pressure rating
  • Clamping force for the housing flange projected area

Recommended Machine for Strainer Baskets, Filter Housings and Sight Bowls

Small inline strainer baskets and compact bowls run on the E Series (75-180 T). Most filter housings and longer baskets need the mould height and stroke of the C Series (140-320 T), and large basket strainers or housings with big flanges go to the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions pump and process plant suppliers ask about strainers, filter housings and sight bowls.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Strainer Baskets and Filter Housings?
Middle tonnage horizontal machines cover most baskets and housings, since the parts are deep and need a long opening stroke. Small inline strainers fit lower tonnage machines, while large basket strainers move to the top of the range.
  • Why Do Perforated Strainer Baskets Collapse Under Load?
Every hole splits the melt flow, so a basket carries many weld lines. Poor venting or a badly placed gate leaves those weld lines weak, and the basket folds once it loads with debris.
  • Which Material Suits a Clear Sight Bowl?
SAN or PC in a clarity grade, chosen for stress-crack resistance against the media in the line. PC must be dried thoroughly, and the tool polished, to avoid splay, haze and moulded-in stress that leads to cracking.
  • What Holds the Pressure Rating of a Filter Housing?
Thread form, O-ring groove tolerance and even wall thickness. Flash at the parting line across the seal groove, or short threads, will leak under test, so these features need clean shut-offs and stable packing.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Strainer or Filter Housing?
Yes. Share the drawings or samples of each part, material, part weights, mould sizes, number of cavities and annual quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pump Line Fittings Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould foot valve bodies, valve bodies, pump connectors and unions, and pump housings, depending on part size.
