Injection Moulding Machine for Valve Bodies
Plastic valve bodies are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from uPVC, CPVC, PP or glass-filled PA66. Body size, the number of threaded or socket ends needing unscrewing or side cores, and mould height decide the machine. Uniform walls and a smooth bore matter most, because they set burst performance.
For PVC and CPVC bodies the screw, barrel and temperature control must suit PVC, and the clamp has to hold higher cavity pressure than PP needs. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for valve bodies and can advise on a configuration for your valve range.

Machine Requirements for Valve Body Moulding
Valve bodies are pressure parts with sealing faces inside and threads outside. Machine selection should allow for:
- PVC-suited screw, barrel and zone cooling for uPVC and CPVC
- Higher injection and cavity pressure than for PP bodies
- Unscrewing cores or side cores for threaded ends
- Flash-free parting line across O-ring grooves and seats
- Even wall thickness for burst and long-term pressure performance
- Mould height and stroke for larger bodies with side cores
Recommended Machine for Valve Bodies
Bodies for smaller valve sizes, often run in multi-cavity tools, suit the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-size bodies with several core pulls go on the C Series (140-320 T), and larger bodies or tools with hydraulic unscrewing at both ends need the platen space of the H Series (120-350 T).

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Points valve manufacturers check before buying a machine for body moulding.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Valve Bodies?
A horizontal machine sized for the body and its core pulls. Smaller valve sizes run in lower tonnage machines, often with several cavities, and larger sizes need more clamping force, mould space and hydraulic core circuits. What Changes When Valve Bodies Are Moulded in PVC or CPVC?
PVC needs a wear and corrosion resistant barrel, often bimetallic, a low-compression screw and close temperature control to avoid degradation. Residence time must stay short, and the barrel is purged with a stable material before shutdown. Why Do Moulded Valve Bodies Crack Near the Rated Pressure?
Uneven walls, rough bores and sharp internal corners concentrate stress, and weld lines behind cored ports are weak points. Gate placement, packing and a polished bore reduce micro-cracks that show up later in pressure testing.
How Are Threaded Valve Ends Moulded?
Internal threads come from unscrewing cores driven hydraulically or by motor, and external threads usually form on split side cores. The machine needs core pull circuits and enough mould space for the unscrewing unit. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Valve Body?
Yes. Share the body drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, core and unscrewing details and annual quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Valve Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can produce ball valve balls and stems, valve handles, check and foot valve parts, and pump connectors and unions, depending on size.
