Injection Moulding Machine for Valve Handles, Levers and Actuator Covers

Valve handles, levers and actuator covers come from horizontal injection moulding machines, in glass-filled PA6 or PA66 for torque-carrying handles and PP or ABS for covers. Handle length, cover size and the number of cavities set the tonnage. The square or D drive socket matters most, since it carries the operating torque.

Machine selection here is about moulding glass-filled nylon dry and consistent, so the drive fit holds from batch to batch, with enough mould space for large covers. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for valve handles and covers and can suggest a suitable model.

Machine Requirements for Valve Handle, Lever and Actuator Cover Moulding

A handle has to turn the valve for years without the drive socket rounding off. Points to check when selecting a machine:

  • Dryer sized for glass-filled PA6 and PA66 before moulding
  • Drive socket held to size in conditioned nylon
  • Gate away from the drive socket to avoid weld lines
  • UV-stabilised grades and masterbatch control for outdoor handles
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled nylon
  • Mould space for long levers and large actuator covers

Recommended Machine for Valve Handles, Levers and Actuator Covers

Small handles and levers for compact valves suit the E Series (75-180 T), usually in multi-cavity tools. Long levers for larger valves and actuator covers with deeper draws fit the C Series (140-320 T), while the H Series (120-350 T) covers big actuator covers that need more opening stroke.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions valve and actuator makers ask about handles, levers and covers.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Valve Handles and Levers?
Handles and levers are small to medium parts, so lower tonnage horizontal machines run most of them in multi-cavity tools. Actuator covers are larger and usually need a middle tonnage machine with more mould space.
  • Why Use Glass-filled Nylon Instead of PP for a Valve Handle?
PP creeps under constant torque, so the drive socket slowly rounds off and the handle slips. Glass-filled PA6 or PA66 stays stiff at the socket. PP and ABS remain fine for covers and light-duty handles.
  • Why Does the Drive Fit Change After Moulding?
Nylon absorbs moisture after moulding and swells slightly, and wet granules mould poorly. Drying the material properly and designing the socket to conditioned dimensions keeps the fit consistent once the handle is in service.
  • Do Outdoor Valve Handles Need UV-stabilised Material?
Yes. Handles on outdoor pipelines and plants fade and turn brittle without UV stabilisation, and chemical splash attacks some grades. UV-stabilised, chemical-resistant grades with even masterbatch dispersion for colour coding suit these handles.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Valve Handle or Actuator Cover?
Yes. Share the part drawing or sample, material, part weight, mould dimensions, number of cavities and annual quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Valve and Pump Fittings Too?
Yes. Similar machines produce ball valve stems and seat carriers, check valve parts, pump connectors and unions, and solenoid valve bodies, subject to the mould.
