Injection Moulding Machine for Clamp Saddles and Repair Saddles
Clamp saddles and repair saddles are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, as two half shells moulded in PP or UPVC and bolted around the pipe. Pipe diameter, shell depth and the threaded outlet decide the machine. Shell shape matters most, since a warped shell will not press the rubber seal evenly onto the pipe.
Machine choice for saddles depends on the shell size for each pipe diameter and on the mould actions for the outlet thread and bolt holes. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for saddle moulding and can match a machine to your size range.

Machine Requirements for Clamp Saddle Moulding
A saddle has to grip the pipe and seal an outlet, so mould and machine both affect the result. Main points:
- Mould space for curved half shells across pipe sizes
- Unscrewing or core pull action for the threaded outlet
- Controlled cooling to limit warpage of the curved shell
- Accurate groove and seat for the rubber seal
- Thick bolt bosses packed to avoid sink and voids
- Screw and barrel set up for PP or UPVC
Recommended Machine for Clamp Saddles
Saddles for smaller pipes, often moulded with both halves in one family mould, fit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger diameters bring deeper shells and more projected area, so these moulds go on the C Series (140-320 T), with the H Series (120-350 T) for the largest pipes. Repair saddles with longer bodies are sized by shell length as well as pipe diameter.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions saddle makers bring to our engineers most often.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Clamp Saddles?
Horizontal machines sized by the saddle’s pipe diameter. Small saddles fit the E Series, often with both halves in one mould. Large saddles and long repair saddles move to the C or H Series for shell size and shot weight. Is the Rubber Seal Moulded on the Same Machine?
No. The EPDM seal is a separate rubber part, fitted into a moulded groove at assembly. The plastic machine moulds the shells, so the groove and seat must be accurate for the seal to work. How Is the Threaded Outlet Formed on a Saddle?
An internal outlet thread needs an unscrewing core that turns out before ejection. An external thread can be formed on the parting line or by slides. Either way, the machine needs a circuit for the action and time in the cycle to run it.
Why Do Saddle Shells Warp After Moulding?
Curved shells shrink unevenly when wall thickness or cooling differs across the arc. The ends can spring in or out, and the shell then misfits the pipe. Even walls, balanced cooling and steady holding pressure keep the arc in shape. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Clamp Saddle?
Yes. Share the saddle drawing, pipe sizes, outlet thread, material, shell weight, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other PVC Fitting Parts Too?
It does. Tank connectors, pipe clips, flange adaptors and end caps can run on the same class of machine, depending on each mould.
