Injection Moulding Machine for Flanges and Flange Adaptors
Pipe flanges and flange adaptors are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from UPVC or PP. Flange diameter, hub thickness and shot weight decide the machine, and the largest sizes need high clamping force. Thick sections matter most: the hub and face must be packed well to avoid sink, voids and a face that will not seal.
For flanges, the machine choice comes down to platen size and shot capacity for the biggest flange, plus steady holding pressure through thick walls. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for flange moulding and can advise on machine size for each diameter.

Machine Requirements for Flange Moulding
Flanges are thick, flat and heavy for their size, and that shapes what the machine must do:
- Shot capacity for heavy hubs and wide flange rings
- Long, steady holding pressure to pack thick sections
- Flat sealing face without sink or ripples
- Bolt hole cores placed to limit weld lines
- Platen size and tie-bar space for large flange moulds
- PVC-suited screw that avoids overheating thick UPVC shots
Recommended Machine for Flanges
Small flange adaptors and stub flanges fit the E Series (75-180 T). Mid-size flanges with heavier hubs suit the C Series (140-320 T), and the larger flanges in the range need the shot weight and platen area of the H Series (120-350 T). Very large flanges may need more clamping force and are checked against the mould on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
What flange makers most often ask before choosing a machine.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Pipe Flanges?
Horizontal machines sized by flange diameter and shot weight. The E Series covers small adaptors, the C Series mid sizes and the H Series larger flanges. The heaviest flanges are reviewed against the mould for clamping force. Why Do Thick Flange Hubs Show Voids or Sink?
Thick sections shrink as they cool. If holding pressure stops before the gate freezes, the centre of the hub pulls into a void or the face sinks. A larger gate, longer hold time and cored-out hubs reduce this. How Is Clamping Force Worked Out for a Large Flange?
Tonnage follows the projected area of the flange face and runner multiplied by cavity pressure, plus a margin. Wide flat flanges have a large area, so diameter rather than part weight usually sets the clamping force.
Can Flanges Be Moulded in PP as Well as UPVC?
Yes. UPVC flanges match PVC pipe systems, and PP flanges suit chemical and drainage lines. PP shrinks more, so the mould is made for that material. Switching between the two needs a thorough purge. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Flange?
Yes. Share the flange or adaptor drawing, diameters, drilling, material, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and required quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Pipeline Parts Too?
Yes. Plastic valves, pipe fittings, clamp saddles and tank connectors can run on machines in the same range, depending on mould size.
