Injection Moulding Machine for Foot Valves and Non-Return Valves
Foot valves and non-return valves are made on horizontal injection moulding machines, with UPVC or PP bodies and strainers and POM poppets moulded separately. Body size, thread forming and the strainer mould decide the machine. Strainer slots matter most: thin ribs between many slots fill last and need good venting to avoid short shots.
Selecting a machine for these valves means covering the body and strainer moulds and keeping POM internals on their own barrel. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for foot valve production and can recommend sizes for your valve range.

Machine Requirements for Foot Valve Moulding
Foot valves combine a threaded body, a slotted strainer and a moving seal part. Points to cover:
- Venting and fast fill for thin strainer ribs
- Mould space for the many small strainer slot cores
- Accurate seat face where the poppet or flap seals
- Unscrewing or slide action for body threads
- Separate barrel for POM poppets and guides
- Shot capacity for larger body and strainer moulds
Recommended Machine for Foot Valves
Poppets, guides and small non-return valve bodies are light parts for the E Series (75-180 T). Foot valve bodies and strainers for larger pump suction lines carry more weight and mould area, so they suit the C Series (140-320 T), while the H Series (120-350 T) takes the heaviest strainer moulds. The strainer mould, with its many cores, often sets the machine size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions pump valve makers often put to our engineers.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Foot Valves?
Horizontal machines, chosen for the largest body and strainer moulds. Small valves and internals fit the E Series. Bodies and strainers for bigger suction lines need the C or H Series. Why Do Strainer Slots Give Short Shots?
Ribs between slots are thin and fill at the end of flow, so trapped air and early freezing leave them short. Vents at the rib ends, a gate that feeds the slots evenly and enough injection speed help them fill.Which Material Suits the Poppet or Flap?
POM suits poppets and guides for its stiffness, wear resistance and low friction. Flaps that must flex are often rubber or a separate elastomer part. The seal ring is usually rubber, fitted at assembly.
Can POM Internals Run on the Same Machine as UPVC Bodies?
Avoid it. Hot POM and PVC react and break down if they meet in the barrel. Run POM parts on a separate machine, or purge fully with PP or PE before and after the change. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Foot Valve?
Yes. Share drawings of the body, strainer and internals, valve sizes, materials, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend suitable machines.Does the Machine Suit Other Pump Line Parts Too?
Yes. Plastic valves, tank connectors, threaded adaptors and pipe fittings can be moulded on the same class of machine, depending on the mould.
