Injection Moulding Machine for Threaded Adaptors

Threaded adaptors, male and female, are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from UPVC, CPVC, PP or PPR, with some CPVC and PPR types moulded around a brass thread insert. Thread form, insert loading and cavity count decide the machine. Clean thread crests matter most, so threads need well-made slides or unscrewing cores.

For adaptors, machine selection weighs thread forming in the mould, time for insert loading and steady shot control around the insert. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for threaded adaptor production and can recommend a set-up for plain and insert types.

Machine Requirements for Threaded Adaptor Moulding

Threads and inserts set most of the demands on an adaptor machine, so check these points:

  • Unscrewing cores for internal female threads
  • Slides or split cavities for external male threads
  • Insert pockets that hold brass inserts without flash
  • Safe mould open time for manual insert loading
  • Insert preheating to reduce stress around brass threads
  • PVC-suited screw for UPVC and CPVC adaptors

Recommended Machine for Threaded Adaptors

Most threaded adaptors are small parts, and the E Series (75-180 T) covers plain and insert types in moderate cavity counts. Larger sizes, or moulds with several unscrewing cores, need more mould space and shot capacity, which the C Series (140-320 T) and H Series (120-350 T) offer. Insert adaptors are often run with fewer cavities to keep loading time short.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Answers to what adaptor makers ask about threads and inserts.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Threaded Adaptors?
A horizontal machine chosen by adaptor size, thread forming method and cavities. Plain small adaptors fit the E Series. Larger sizes or moulds with many unscrewing cores move to the C or H Series.
  • How Are Brass Inserts Moulded Into Threaded Adaptors?
An operator or robot places the brass insert on a pin in the open mould, and the plastic is shot around it. Knurling on the insert locks it in place. Preheated inserts and a close pin fit help prevent flash and cracking.
  • Should Female Threads Be Unscrewed or Stripped?
Coarse threads in soft PP can sometimes be stripped off a core, but pipe threads in UPVC or CPVC are usually unscrewed to avoid damaged crests. Unscrewing moulds need drive space and an extra step in the cycle.
  • Which Material Suits Brass Insert Adaptors?
PPR and CPVC adaptors often carry brass inserts for joints to metal taps and lines on hot and cold supply. UPVC adaptors are usually all-plastic. PPR runs on a general-purpose screw, CPVC on a PVC-suited one.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Threaded Adaptor?
Yes. Share the adaptor drawing, thread type and size, insert details, material, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and output, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Threaded Pipe Parts Too?
Yes. Compression fittings, tank connectors, threaded end caps and plastic valve parts can run on similar machines, subject to mould size and thread actions.
