Injection Moulding Machine for HVAC Air Vent Louvres and Grilles

HVAC air vent louvres and grilles for railway coaches are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines from FR PP, FR PC, FR ABS or glass-filled FR PA6. The flat slotted footprint sets the clamping force even though the grille is light. Warpage from uneven cooling across the slots is the main reject.

Grille moulding asks for clamping force matched to a wide, open part and steady holding pressure so every bar fills. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for coach vents and grilles and can recommend a machine and setting for your tool.

Machine Requirements for HVAC Louvre and Grille Moulding

A grille is mostly open area, which makes filling and flatness the hard parts. Things to plan for when sizing the machine:

  • Clamping force set by the full grille footprint
  • Even cooling across the slots to control warp
  • Venting at bar ends to avoid short shots
  • Weld lines kept off thin bars between slots
  • Fire grade suited to a part in the airflow
  • Platen size and tie-bar spacing for wide moulds

Recommended Machine for HVAC Louvres and Grilles

Small diffuser vents fit the E Series (75-180 T). Full-width return grilles and supply louvres have a large projected area, so most of them run on the C Series (140-320 T), and the widest coach grilles go to the H Series (120-350 T) for its clamp and platen size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What coach HVAC suppliers ask before moulding louvres and grilles.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make HVAC Louvres and Grilles?
Mostly C Series or H Series horizontal machines, because the grille outline sets the tonnage. Small round or square vents can run on the E Series.
  • Why Do Slotted Grilles Warp After Moulding?
Cooling is uneven between thick frames and thin bars, and the open slots let the part twist as it shrinks. Balanced cooling channels and ribbed frames reduce warp, which otherwise shows as rattle or poor duct fit.
  • Are Adjustable Louvre Blades Moulded With the Frame?
Usually not. Adjustable blades are moulded as separate parts and clipped or pinned into the frame, so the blade tool can run in more cavities on a smaller machine.
  • Does a Grille in the Airflow Need a Different Fire Grade?
Often yes. Parts in the air path can carry a stricter fire requirement than nearby trim, so confirm the classification for the grille before choosing the FR grade.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My HVAC Grille?
Yes. Share the grille drawing or sample, material, fire requirement, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities and order volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Railway Coach Parts Too?
Yes. Machines of this size also mould coach interior panels and trim, trackside enclosure covers and rail electrical housings, depending on the mould.
