Injection Moulding Machine for Insulated Rail Joint End Posts, Bushes and Ferrules

Insulated rail joint end posts, bushes and ferrules are small insulating parts made on horizontal injection moulding machines from glass-filled PA66, glass-filled PET or PEI. Cavity count, shot weight and the melt temperature of the grade set the machine. A void-free section matters most, since voids weaken insulation under bolt load.

These parts separate track circuit sections, so machine selection focuses on stable melt temperature, accurate packing and a process that can be traced lot by lot. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for rail joint insulation and can suggest a configuration.

Moulding Rail Joint Insulation Parts?

Share the end post or bush drawing, grade, electrical requirement and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.

Machine Requirements for Insulated Rail Joint Component Moulding

Insulation must hold up under a permanent clamped bolt load for years, and each lot is expected to be traceable. What the process needs:

  • Packing pressure that leaves end posts free of voids
  • Drying of PET-GF and PA66 to the grade limit
  • Barrel and mould heating suited to PEI
  • Concentric bores in bushes and ferrules
  • Process data recorded for each production lot
  • Wear-resistant screw for glass-filled grades

Recommended Machine for Insulated Rail Joint Components

Bushes and ferrules are very small and run in multi-cavity tools at the lower end of the E Series (75-180 T). End posts are larger profiles matched to the rail section, and their tools can call for an H Series (120-350 T) or a C Series (140-320 T) press depending on cavities and mould size.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Points signalling component suppliers ask about before tooling up.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Insulated Rail Joint Components?
For bushes and ferrules, a small E Series machine with a multi-cavity mould. End posts, being larger, may move to the H or C Series by mould size.
  • Why Does Creep Matter More Than Strength for These Parts?
Bolts clamp the joint permanently. A grade that slowly creeps under that load loses clamp and insulation over time, so glass-filled PA66, PET-GF or PEI are chosen for creep resistance.
  • How Is Traceability Handled for Rail Joint Parts?
Parts are safety-related, so buyers expect each lot to link to its resin batch, drying record and moulding settings. Machine process data and lot marking on the parts support this.
  • What Does PEI Need From the Moulding Machine?
PEI runs far hotter than nylon or PET, in both the barrel and the mould. Heater capacity, nozzle heating and mould temperature control should be confirmed before quoting it.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Rail Joint Component?
Yes. Share the drawing or sample, grade, part weight, mould dimensions, cavities, traceability needs and yearly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Railway Signalling Parts Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould trackside and signalling enclosure parts, rail electrical connector bodies and cable cleats, subject to the mould.
