Injection Moulding Machine for Railway Coach Interior Panels, Seat Shells and Luggage Racks

Coach interior parts such as wall and ceiling panels, seat shells and luggage racks are moulded on two-platen and horizontal injection moulding machines in FR PP, FR PA6, FR PC or PEI. Projected area, mould height and flow length decide the press. Fire classification sets the grade before anything else.

For coach interiors, machine selection is done part by part, not for the whole family, since a seat shell and a trim strip need very different presses. Pratishna Engineers supplies two-platen and horizontal injection moulding machines for coach interiors and can recommend a configuration.

Moulding Coach Interior Panels?

Share the panel or seat shell drawing, fire classification, grade and mould size, and Pratishna Engineers will advise on a machine.

Machine Requirements for Coach Interior Part Moulding

Interior parts are large, visible and held to a fire classification that depends on where they sit in the coach. The machine has to cover:

  • Platen area and opening stroke for deep seat shell tools
  • Clamping force for wide flat panels
  • Injection capacity for long flow paths in FR grades
  • Sink control at ribs behind the textured show face
  • Even cooling so flat panels do not warp
  • Heater capacity for PEI where the grade calls for it

Recommended Machine for Railway Coach Interior Parts

The Two-Platen PHM Series (160-350 T) suits medium panels, luggage rack parts and smaller seat shells, with the long opening stroke deep tools need. Trim, brackets and covers from the same interior run on the H Series (120-350 T). Full-length wall and ceiling panels and large seat shells need more tonnage and are discussed on request.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What coach interior suppliers most often ask before choosing presses.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Coach Interior Panels and Seat Shells?
Two-platen PHM machines for medium panels, rack parts and smaller shells, and H Series machines for trim and brackets. The biggest panels and shells need presses above this range, discussed on request.
  • How Does Fire Classification Change by Interior Part?
Rail fire rules group parts by location. Linings, ceilings and luggage racks fall in one requirement set, seat shells in another, and the hazard level depends on the type of service the coach runs.
  • Can One Machine Make All the Parts of a Coach Interior?
Rarely. A seat shell and a trim clip can differ hugely in projected area, so each part is sized on its own and the family is spread across machines.
  • What Does PEI Need From the Machine?
PEI may be chosen for the strictest fire levels. It runs at much higher melt and mould temperatures than FR PP or PC, so heater capacity and mould temperature control are confirmed first.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Coach Interior Part?
Yes. Share the drawing or 3D model, fire classification, grade, part weight, mould dimensions and opening stroke, cavities and volume, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Railway Parts Too?
Yes. These presses can also mould HVAC louvres and grilles, trackside enclosure parts, toilet module fittings and coach trim, depending on the mould.
