Injection Moulding Machine for Water Tank Fittings
Water tank fittings such as tank nipples, connectors and bulkhead fittings are made on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP copolymer, uPVC, HDPE or glass-filled PA66. Machine size depends on the flange diameter, cavity count and the unscrewing mould that forms the BSP threads. Packing pressure at the thick hex and flange junction controls sink and voids.
For tank fittings, machine selection centres on mould opening for the unscrewing core, steady holding pressure for thick sections and a clean seal face. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for tank fitting production and can suggest a configuration for your fitting range and mould.

Machine Requirements for Water Tank Fitting Moulding
Tank fittings combine coarse threads, a thick hex and a sealing face that has to stay flat and clean. A machine for this work should offer:
- Mould space and stroke for unscrewing or collapsing thread cores
- Steady holding pressure to pack the thick hex and flange
- Clamp force on the upper side to keep seal faces flash-free
- PVC-suited screw and barrel when uPVC fittings are run
- Enough shot weight for the largest bulkhead fitting in the range
- Dryer for glass-filled PA66, clean feed for potable-water grades
Recommended Machine for Water Tank Fittings
Tank nipples and small connectors run in multi-cavity moulds that suit the E Series (75-180 T). Larger bulkhead fittings with wide flanges, or moulds carrying several unscrewing cores and their drive, need more platen space and tonnage. The C Series (140-320 T) covers mid-size moulds and the H Series (120-350 T) the largest.

FAQs / Buyer Questions
Questions plumbing fitting makers ask about moulding tank nipples and bulkhead connectors.
Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Water Tank Fittings?
A horizontal machine is used. Smaller nipples and connectors usually fit the E Series, while big bulkhead fittings and moulds with several unscrewing cores move to the C or H Series, depending on flange size and cavities. Why Do Tank Fittings Need an Unscrewing Mould?
Male and female BSP threads cannot be stripped off a fixed core without damage. An unscrewing or collapsible core releases the thread cleanly, so the mould is taller and needs more opening stroke and room for the core drive. How Do You Stop Sink Marks on the Hex and Flange?
Gate into or near the thick section, hold pressure until the gate freezes, and core out the hex where the design allows. Sink at the washer face can open a leak path once the fitting is tightened.
Which Material Suits Potable Water Tank Fittings?
PP copolymer and HDPE suit most tank fittings, uPVC suits fittings joined to PVC pipe, and glass-filled PA66 gives a stiffer thread. Use a compound approved for contact with drinking water. Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Water Tank Fitting?
Yes. Share the fitting drawing or sample, thread sizes, material, part weight, mould size, number of cavities and the core type, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.Does the Machine Suit Other Sanitary Fittings Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould plastic taps, bib cocks, angle cocks, waste couplings and floor drain bodies, subject to each mould and material.
