Injection Moulding Machine for Sports Goods Components

Sports goods components such as boot studs, racket bumpers, grommets, end caps and handle grips are made on horizontal injection moulding machines in glass-filled nylon, POM, TPU or TPE. Each item is quoted separately, with part size, cavities and moulded-in inserts deciding the machine. Drying matters most for nylon studs, which must also be designed on conditioned properties.

Since this is a family of parts, selection starts from the largest mould and any insert loading, then shot accuracy for small parts. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for sports goods components and can recommend a configuration per part.

Making Sports Goods Parts?

Share each part, its material and any metal inserts, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine and quotation.

Machine Requirements for Sports Goods Component Moulding

Sports goods parts vary from small inserted studs to soft grips, so the machine setup should cover:

  • Dryer for PA6-GF and PA66-GF before moulding
  • Insert loading time for metal stud threads
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled nylon
  • Overmould tooling for TPE grips on rigid cores
  • Weld lines kept away from stud thread roots
  • Fatigue and pull-out testing of inserted studs

Recommended Machine for Sports Goods Components

Most sports goods parts are small. The E Series (75-180 T) suits studs, grommets, end caps and grip overmoulds, including insert-loaded tools. Long grip tools and high-cavity stud moulds suit the H Series (120-350 T), and the C Series (140-320 T) is an option where its platen size fits the mould.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions sports goods makers ask about moulding these parts.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Sports Goods Components?
There is no single machine for the family. Studs, grommets and end caps usually fit the E Series, while long handle grips and high-cavity tools may need the H or C Series. Quote each part on its own mould.
  • Are Composite Racket and Bat Frames Injection Moulded?
No. Composite frames are laid up or filament wound. Only the plastic end caps, bumper strips, grommets and butt caps fitted to those frames are injection moulded, along with handle grips.
  • How Are Metal Inserts Moulded into Boot Studs?
The threaded metal insert is placed in the mould by hand or robot before each shot, and glass-filled nylon is moulded around it. Preheated inserts, seating checks and pull-out tests on samples keep studs from loosening in use.
  • Why Must Nylon Sports Parts Be Dried and Conditioned?
Undried PA6 or PA66 shows splay and lower strength. Moulded nylon is brittle until it absorbs moisture, so design and test studs and clips on conditioned properties rather than dry-as-moulded values.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Sports Goods Component?
Yes. Share each part drawing or sample, material, part weight, insert details, cavity count and monthly volume, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a machine per part.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Sports Equipment Parts Too?
Yes, subject to the mould. The same machines can run fitness equipment pulleys and end caps, boot and binding buckles, water bottle cages and helmet vent hardware.
