Injection Moulding Machine for Compressible Dye Springs and Tubes

Compressible dye springs and collapsible dye tubes are moulded on horizontal injection moulding machines from PP or modified PPO. Tube length, the open strut pattern and the number of cavities set mould size and shot weight. Strut thickness must be uniform, since it fixes how far each spring compresses and how well it recovers after hot dyeing.

Here, machine selection looks at filling many thin struts without short shots, repeatable shots so every spring in a stack behaves alike, and stroke for the tube length. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for dye spring production and can recommend a configuration for your design.

Machine Requirements for Dye Spring Moulding

A dye spring is a fatigue part that works hot, so the moulding has to deliver:

  • Uniform strut section for a consistent spring rate
  • Full fill of thin struts without short shots
  • Strong weld lines where struts meet the rings
  • Grade that recovers after repeated hot compression
  • Same compression behaviour from every cavity
  • Venting at strut ends to avoid burn marks

Recommended Machine for Compressible Dye Springs

The open lattice gives a low part weight for its length, so cavity count and mould length drive the choice. Single and two-cavity spring tools can run on the E Series (75-180 T). Multi-cavity moulds, longer collapsible tubes and PPO grades that need higher injection pressure are better placed on a C Series (140-320 T) machine, or an H Series (120-350 T) where the tool is larger.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Questions dye houses and spring moulders ask about consistency, material and tooling.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Compressible Dye Springs?
Horizontal machines matched to mould length and cavities. Single-cavity and two-cavity tools fit the E Series, and multi-cavity moulds or long collapsible tubes move to the C or H Series.
  • What Decides How Far a Dye Spring Compresses?
Strut thickness, strut angle and material stiffness. Small changes in strut section from uneven filling or worn cavities change the spring rate, so springs from each cavity are compression checked against a reference sample.
  • Is Glass-Filled PP Suitable for Dye Springs?
Glass fibre raises stiffness at temperature but lowers the flex a spring needs. Unfilled PP or modified PPO usually form the flexing struts, with glass-filled grades kept to rigid rings or end parts.
  • Why Do Dye Springs Crack at the Joints?
Cracks start where struts meet the rings, because that is where weld lines form and stress peaks under compression. Gate position, melt temperature and injection speed are set to strengthen those welds.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Dye Spring?
Yes. Share the spring drawing or sample, material, part weight, number of cavities, mould dimensions, dyeing duty and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Package Dyeing Parts Too?
Yes. The same machines can mould perforated dye tubes, textile cones, bobbins and package trays, subject to the mould.
