Injection Moulding Machine for Perforated Yarn Dye Tubes

Perforated HTHP dye tubes, the rigid yarn carriers used in package dyeing, are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in glass-filled PP or modified PPO. Tube length and the slides that form the holes set mould size, and cavities set tonnage. Weld lines behind every hole must hold up through repeated hot dyeing cycles.

Selection for dye tubes looks at mould height for slide-action tools, a screw and barrel that handle glass fibre, and stable injection speed for strong welds. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for dye tube production and can recommend a configuration for your tube and mould.

Send the tube drawing, hole pattern, material and dyeing duty, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a machine.

Machine Requirements for Perforated Dye Tube Moulding

A dye tube goes back into the dyeing vessel again and again, so these points shape the machine and process:

  • Heat-resistant grade that keeps shape under package pressure
  • Strong weld lines around each perforation
  • Clean hole edges without flash that snags yarn
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled PP
  • Mould height for split cavities with hole-forming slides
  • Drying before moulding when running modified PPO

Recommended Machine for Perforated Dye Tubes

Slide-action dye tube moulds are bulky for the part weight, so frame size and daylight count as much as tonnage. Single and two-cavity tools for shorter tubes can fit the E Series (75-180 T). Longer tubes and multi-cavity moulds generally go to the H Series (120-350 T) or C Series (140-320 T), each with wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled grades.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

Common questions from dye houses and dye tube makers about the machine and material.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Perforated Dye Tubes?
A horizontal machine with room for a slide-action mould. Short tubes in one or two cavities can run on the E Series, and long tubes or more cavities move to the C or H Series.
  • Which Material Lasts Longest in HTHP Dyeing?
Modified PPO keeps its shape and colour longer at dyeing temperature than glass-filled PP, but costs more per piece. Dye houses often compare cost per dyeing cycle rather than piece price before choosing.
  • How Are the Holes in a Dye Tube Moulded?
Pins on side slides close against the core to form the holes. Each pin leaves a weld line behind it, so injection speed and mould temperature are set for weld strength, and worn pins are refitted before flash appears.
  • Can Used Dye Tubes Be Reground and Remoulded?
Used tubes are often ground and fed back into new mouldings. The regrind ratio should stay fixed and dried where needed, because glass fibre shortens with each pass and lowers stiffness at temperature.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Perforated Dye Tube?
Yes. Share the tube drawing or sample, hole pattern, material, part weight, cavities, mould size, dyeing duty and monthly quantity, and Pratishna Engineers will suggest a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Dyeing and Winding Parts Too?
Yes. It can also mould compressible dye springs, textile cones, bobbins and warp beam flanges, depending on mould size.
