Injection Moulding Machine for Saddle Straps

Saddle straps, the clamps that tap a feed water line, are produced on horizontal injection moulding machines in glass-filled PP, glass-filled nylon or plain PP. Pipe size sets mould size and shot weight, with one tool per size. Section at the bolt bosses matters most, since a strap that creeps under bolt load lets the seal weep.

Saddle strap moulding needs full packing of thick bolt bosses and careful handling of glass-filled grades. Pratishna Engineers supplies horizontal injection moulding machines for saddle strap production and can recommend a configuration for your strap range and outlet parts.

Machine Requirements for Saddle Strap Moulding

A saddle strap stays clamped on a pipe for years, so strength at the bolt holes and resistance to creep come first. Points to check:

  • Packing pressure to fill thick bolt bosses without voids
  • Wear-resistant screw and barrel for glass-filled grades
  • Hopper dryer for glass-filled nylon
  • Gate position that keeps weld lines off bolt holes
  • Quick mould change across a family of pipe sizes
  • Accurate saddle curve to seat the elastomer gasket

Recommended Machine for Saddle Straps

Straps for smaller pipes are compact parts that suit the E Series (75-180 T), often with both strap halves in one tool. Larger pipe sizes, heavier bolt bosses and glass-filled grades push shot weight and mould size up, so those straps need a C Series (140-320 T) machine, or an H Series (120-350 T) for the biggest sizes.

FAQs / Buyer Questions

What saddle strap makers usually ask when planning a machine.

  • Which Injection Moulding Machine Is Used to Make Saddle Straps?
A horizontal machine chosen by pipe size. Straps for small supply pipes sit on the E Series, while bigger pipe sizes and heavier glass-filled straps need the C or H Series.
  • Why Does a Saddle Strap Start Leaking After Some Months?
The strap creeps under constant bolt load, the force on the gasket drops and the seal weeps. Glass-filled grades, generous section at the bolt bosses and void-free packing reduce creep.
  • Is the Gasket Moulded With the Saddle Strap?
Usually not. The gasket is a separate elastomer part, and the needle valve or outlet port is often a separate moulding as well. The strap mould needs an accurate seat for the gasket.
  • Does Each Pipe Size Need Its Own Saddle Strap Mould?
Yes. Buyers select on pipe size compatibility, so a size range means a family of tools. Quick mould change and a machine that takes the largest tool in the family help run the range on fewer machines.
  • Can Pratishna Recommend a Machine for My Saddle Strap?
Yes. Share the strap drawings for each pipe size, material, part weights, mould dimensions, cavities and monthly volumes, and Pratishna Engineers will recommend a suitable machine.
  • Does the Machine Suit Other Pipe and Line Fittings Too?
Yes. Similar machines can mould push-fit fluid connectors, storage tank fittings, vacuum breakers and foot valves, subject to mould size and material.
